Vermouth/Gin and Gin/Sherry. I also like Yukiko/Yusaku and Takagi/Sato.

Given Conan's sense of justice. It would bother me if he found out and just let him get away (OOC...). Stealing is stealing after all.

I was thinking that too...what's the purpose why Ayumi's mother hasn't reveal her face?
Probably to save time. Drawing faces is quite time consuming. Since Ayumi's mother is pretty much a character who'll most likely never get involved in anything important, wasting time on drawing her face when she appears isn't necessary.

37 Cactus Flower Murder Case : One of the first episodes I ever saw, so it has a special place in my heart. It's not extraordinary case-wise but it's a pretty thought-provoking story. Note that this is the only one part AO you will find in this list.
61-62 A Ghost Ship Murder Case : The first 2 part AO and it was done well. Good atmosphere, creepy killing (the guy was tortured and killed with a sword !), a nice story and some hilarious moments.
88-89 Dracula Villa Murder Case : Love the theme. The characters are pretty cool. And the story is creepy.
92-93 The Fearful Mountain Trek Murder Case : Quite a fun story, with some interesting plot twists (as CC mentioned), and it had its lot of creepy and suspenseful moments too.
124-125 The Mysterious Sniper Murder Case : Kogoro is hilarious in this one. The story's pretty cool too.
(PS : I don't consider 128 as an AO which is why it isn't here).
150-151 The Truth of the Exploding Car Case : A sad case with a brilliant Kogoro. The murder exchange was a cool idea.
180-181 : The case is a bit obvious, but I like the way the guy was killed, the setting is pretty cool and the charactes are great (mostly that Morticia-like lady).
184 The Cursed Masks Laugh Coldy : Awesome characters, brilliant trick, great atmosphere, creepy moments (when they run in the night), the AO of all AOs.
201-202 The Tenth Passenger : The culprit gets obvious rather quickly, but I still love that case because of how emotional it gets at some point. I also like the fact that the killer didn't kill one of the people he was planning to.
210-211 The Water Palace of Five Colors : I love the legend and the cultural aspects in this one.
261-262 The Fearful Legend of the Snowy Night : Same as 210-211.
379-380 Case of the Long Sleeved Kimono at the Hidden Hot Spring on a Snowy Night : Nice trick, good characters, creepy atmosphere and I liked the 'double killing'.
388-389 Kogoro Gets Drunk in Satsuma : Kogoro is hilarious and I liked that the episode centered around sake. Gotta love the title too.
540-541 The Day Mouri Kogorou Ceased Being A Detective : I liked this one for pretty much the same reasons explaining why I liked 150-151. This episode's pretty ironic too considered it's almost 'The Day Akira Kamiya ceased being a DC seiyû'.
603-604-605 The Séance's Double Locked Room Mystery Case : The first 3 part AO ever and it was a success : great charcters (that fanatic creeped me out), a creepy atmosphere, sad ending and the killer knocking his head on the floor was quite disturbing.

Aside from the fact I hate the old animation once comparing it with the new, I feel this is an idea to be considered.
I have to disagree here. The old animation is 1000 times better than the current digital stuff with it's pointy faces and flashy colours.

Kaito was trained by Toichi, who also trained Vermouth and Yukiko. If you're not complaining about Vermouth and Yukiko defying realism by using voice mimicry and changing their appearances, then it kinda means you're contradicting yourself http://www.detectiveconanworld.com/forum/public/style_emoticons/default/unsure.gifTo be fair, I don't remember Yukiko ever mimicking someone else's voice. As for Vermouth, we've never seen her change appearance at the speed of light which makes the whole thing a bit more plausible.
To answer the question of the thread, Kid is indeed overrated like most if not all of the good-looking boys in mangas read by teenage girls (which is the case of shônen).

Hell if the B'z did not make consistently good music, they wouldn't have remained #1 since 1990. As in everything they have released since late 1990 has been #1 on Oricon.Even if I like B'z (not to the same extent as you though), we all know that sales, even on a long-term basis, do not automatically mean 'good music', otherwise one could say that AKB48's last singles are better than B'z's since they sold more.
-
And ? It wouldn't be the first series left unfinished and it certainly wouldn't be the last either.
-
Kid is a supporting character too you know. Besides, I think Heiji does have the capacity to have his own show, it would be more Kindichi like though (the 'stupid' teen and his love-interest).
Yes, the anime will most likely continue, I've been saying that for over a page now.
-
And yes. The Kaitou Kid from DC and Kaitou Kid from MK is different. That's why it doesn't mean that if Kaitou Kid in DC is popular, Kaitou Kid from MK would be popular. But you cannot deny that if Kaitou Kid in DC is becoming popular, it would definitely indirectly affect Kaitou Kid from MK since he was borrowed from there.
Also, we can now see if these two episodes that have just aired - if they would have high ratings. If they don't, it just meant that people in Japan are not supportive enough of this character and future character development would be limited. However, if these two episodes are a hit, then WHY WOULD THE PRODUCERS NOT CONTINUE IT?! If Kaitou Kid is not at all popular... Then why are these two episodes even aired? Or produced? He could just be a special character that appears in DC and people will still support the episode! Everything happens with a reason. You don't see Heiji having his very own special.
It could affect the Kaito from MK, but enough for him to be profitable, that is the question.
The first episode got a rating of 9.4% which is a good score a little above DC's average (around 9%), some fillers and DB episodes which aired this year have got a better score though (623 got 9.5%, 604 got 10.6%, 605 got 10.4%) . However, keep in mind that the ratings depend a lot on what is airing on other channels and that the audience for the anime and the manga are different. Basically, the first episode wasn't a hit, but it wasn't a failure either. I do think they will continue because they can be sold on DVD to some of the otakus to make money (the call-ins at the end of the specials speak for themselves).
There is a reason Heiji doesn't have his own special, it's because he doesn't have his own manga.
-
That's pretty obvious, however a second chance is something quite rare in the manga industry, but who knows.
Oh, and DC made the Kaito Kid from DC popular, but that doesn't mean the Kaito Kid from MK (which is very different) would be popular as well. Besides, there's quite a gap between being a popular character and a profitable character. It's a shame Oricon didn't do the comic rankings when the 4th volume was released because now we have no way to know if it sold well or not...

Wow. Quite a debate here, eh?
Gosho has said that Kaitou Kid isn't just there for decoration. He plays a bigger part. I would expect that anyway... I bet a lot of fans will be upset if Kid doesn't get an ending. What about finding Pandora and avenging Toichi's death?
And Akako. <3 Akako will definitely play a role.
Gosho said that Shinichi and Kid looking the same isn't a coincidence, but that's all I remember.
Who cares if the fans are upset ? All that matters for the publishers is making money. The MK manga failed, so why would they continue it on a regular basis ?
-
I doubt that. Gosho has already indicated that he wish to continue MK. I know that the anime will have to depend on the producers, but having three episodes indicate that there could be more in future. Who knows when? But as long as kaitou kid is not forgotten, it will continue. Everyone says MK will not continue after the first episode stopped for so long, but now it has three episodes. Kaitou kid has just been fillers from the start and now he has two specials. If kaitou kid becomes significant, how do you know that it wouldnt prompt the producers to make more of MK?
I've never read an interview where Gosho says that he wishes to continue MK. Assuming it's true, please provide a link.
There could obviously be more MK episodes in the future since the producers have 20+ chapters left to work with in the manga, but having more MK episodes and the manga continuing are two different things (Gosho is not involved in the production of the anime !). I actually think there will be more MK specials, however, and I'll say it again, apart from the sporadic files that come out, I doubt MK (the manga !) will ever continue on a regular weekly basis, and if it does, it will probably be ended quite quickly.
-
Yep. But if kaitou kid is a significant character in dc, it's counterpart MK, will not be ignored. That's why I said there's a possibility. I didn't say it's definite. But theres a definite possibility that MK will continue. That is, unless the author does not continue writing, or he merges MK with dc.
He's more of a reference to MK than a significant character (plot-wise speaking). And even if he became a significant character, it would be developed in DC, not MK.
I don't think he will merge them, the universes are too different (you can't have a witch in DC), and apart from the few chapters which are published from time to time, I doubt MK will continue, or if it does it will probably be ended quickly.
-
A DC special but an MK episode. But it was based on the MK manga. You're only going to get more MK episodes if the producers dedice to animate more of the MK manga. But the DC manga will always end up being DC episodes, even with Kaito Kid in them (like the one next week).
-
Or they just decided to air those instead of fillers and/or remasters.
I don't get your second point. All DC material will be aired as DC episodes. That seems pretty obvious.
-
Well, even if that was true, those would still be episodes of Detective Conan, not Magic Kaito.

We need a Mama's family forum, so we can discuss all things related to Mama's family
Also a Haruhi sub forum would be good as well
ooh, and how about a hanasaku iroha sub forum?
a my little pony sub forum would be awesome as well
maybe a sly cooper sub forum?
and a charlie brown sub forum?
a lilo and stich sub forum would be great
how about an american idol sub forum?
Hilarious !

Gosho doesn't make the anime.
He said he was going to write an MK case with Phantom Lady, which he will be doing in the two upcoming weeks. For now, that is 'all' you can expect.
-
What were you expecting ? It's DC time's slot after all. Anyway, the episodes are over for now, more of them could be made in the future though, who knows.
-
When Gosho dies.

MK file of the upcoming week.

Movie 15, "Quarter of Silence"
in News and updates
Posted · Report reply
Movie 15 was released in Korea on the 3rd of August. According to Box Office Mojo it grossed $3,179,708 in 2 weeks with 518 303 people attending (2,630,000 went to see the movie in Japan, ticket prices are much lower in South Korea though). After 2 weeks, Movie 14 and 13 had grossed $2,371,444 and $2,676,684 respectively. Just to compare Conan's populariy in Korea compared to other franchise, here are a few other numbers : the 31th movie of Doraemon grossed $868,967 in its entire run, Pokemon's 14th movie (last year's movie) grossed $2,353,831, One Piece Strong World grossed $852,420 and this year's Shin-chan movie grossed $2,183,236.
The first time they released a DC movie in Korea was in 2008 (http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/news/2008-05-05/detective-conan-solves-his-first-case-in-korea), at that time movie 6 was released and grossed $601,061 with 49 screens in its opening week-end, this year's DC movie had 344 screens in its opening week-end and, as you can see, the gross has really increased in 3 years.
Basically, movie 15's gross in the Korean box office is quite good for an animated movie.
