  1. If someone changes names in the middle of a game, then having a post mentioning it would be useful for everyone. After that, just using the new name should work. If you have the original name in earlier posts then outside of the first one (where you could strike through the original and have the new one placed after it) there shouldn't be much reason to change it. Unless you meant something different?

  2. I'll try to organise my thoughts somewhat now.

Random guy's voice was described as 'husky'. It's obvious he apparently has a cold, but that was still pointed out in particular. Aoyama often uses 'husky' voices as a sign that someone is trying to disguise their voice, but isn't very good at it. Also, he uses the sick excuse to get out of giving exact details on some information.

So, because of this and various other reasons I'm now going to go through I think that RM is actually Amuro disguised by Vermouth pretending to be one of the hostages in order to get reactions from Jodie.

I'll start out with the reasons why random guy must be lying about certain things. As BD pointed out in the cbox: "The victim recognizes him (or at least reacts to him), but it's not the other way around". Amuro wouldn't know the people the real RM does. He would be intending to get the reactions then get away and so there would be no need in his mind to need to know that information. The victim obviously knows something about 'RM' or she wouldn't react to him.

Then of course, 'RM' knew things it shouldn't be possible for him to know, such as Akai dropping the coffee can. This bit is odd, even if it does prove 'RM' isn't the real random hostage guy. A spy who was keeping track on the FBI wouldn't mention someone thing as small as Akai dropping a can, so it could only really be someone who was actually there (or saw it some other way?) who knew it. I'm not yet sure where this fits in, but it should be useful later.

Now, the real thing that gives away he's lying is that he apparently claims that the woman wrapping Jodie up in the hostage case was his wife. The people wrapping others up were supposed to be on their own in order for the robber's plans to work so if the woman was random guy's wife then she would have been with him, not wrapping Jodie up. Him saying this though, gives him an out. By pretending his wife was the one wrapping up Jodie he can say information about what happened during the bank case without coming off as suspicious for knowing it and paying attention to certain details. Amuro would obviously know about SA being near Jodie because, well, he was there.

Last thing I'll mention (though this is just from memory so I could be wrong) is that Amuro doesn't seem to creep Haibara out like the other BOs do which could explain her non-reaction to RM.

Anyway, this seems like another hunt for reactions, aimed at Jodie, but I'm not ruling out Conan.

Yeah, I don't know about a few things and how they would fit in (though Haibara seems to recognise Dai by the canned coffee thing and it seems others had paid attention to it too which I find interesting), but those were my general impressions.

Although, I also saw Akai as a possibility for a few reasons, but I put that at a much lower probability than Amuro.

  3. Yeah... I agree with you. However, as you can probably tell from my last post I do sometimes slip into being annoyed at those who actively try to claim being gay is wrong so~

Y'know what this reminds me of? Some people who like to offend religious people because they all 'try to force religion upon others' which definitely isn't always the case. They take the attitude that if they've done it first it's fine to be 'offensive' back. It's different if people get hurt (physically or emotionally) as a result of homophobes actions of course, but with people who *aren't* doing any harm other than believing something different...?

I would still like to change the minds of homophobic people, but I think that insulting them can be the wrong way about it.

(The reason why I still like those buses despite this is the fact that this shows that people *are* trying to spread the message in such a big way. Oh, and an opposing group tried to put a message against gays on other buses in London copying the original signs (can't remember the exact phrase atm sorry) but they were stopped by Boris Johnson. Even if you're cynical and say he just did that for the popularity vote that means you have to admit it means that he thinks that the majority of people now think that homophobia is wrong. And I like that )

  4. 'kay, here's a better wish list, but take it more as a suggestion than anything :xxx :)

If it's DC-related then I guess Takagi or the Nagano lot and if not then Vocaloid, Higurashi/Umineko or Death Note related...? Also, maybe Hetalia? My favourite characters for that would have to be England or Germany...

  5. Put me down for now , though I may have to pull out before the first deadline 'cause I've got mock exams in December for all subjects :|.

Hmmm... I've no preferences at all x:.

I hope this works out though, I really liked the DCTP one last year so~! :D

  6. @Chel: Awesome link there

Also, I posted this on DCTP, but it seems perfect for this thread so~

    bus.jpg

^This sign has been put on buses all around the UK.

These articles probably explain what they're about more clearly than I can :xxx

Also, this stuff is also interesting IMO, though YMMV on some of the stuff about whether orientation can be changed or not.

(The 'being intolerant of intolerance' line is... slightly weird if you think about it, but it was Boris Johnson who said it so~)

These sorts of things give me hope things are moving in the right direction :D

  7. The honorfics stuff is down to how they do it. You may think it's not that good, others may think otherwise. I mean, personally I prefer them because they help show the relationships between the characters a lot better and on the (admittedly rare) occasions where Ran is in enough danger, Conan referring to her as just "Ran" instead of "Ran-neechan" really stands out. But in the end, what they choose to do about the honorfics, leaving them in or taking them out I wouldn't say is exactly affecting the quality of it. It's just more their personal preference imo...

  8. Yeah, with even all the music intact too. I like that :)

Hmm... I guess I'll post my opinion on them all...

So, I'll start with AJ M...

More emotion is needed in your voice, I think. Not sure how you can improve it other than practicing and thinking about where you put the emphasis on some of the words, but yeah. I also think your voice sounds a bit too old for Shinichi, though that may just be me. Still, I think someone else might've mentioned it earlier so~

With Misaki, while you're really good at getting the emotions right, I think sometimes you speak a little too slowly for the situation or sound as if you're reading something out with your words suddenly becoming weirdly precise. However, I've only noticed it at a few points and you've got to keep in mind that I was trying to pick out all the flaws as I was watching it.

The microphone stuff on the first one could be heard quite a bit, but listening to the later ones, I can barely hear it any more, pretty good on that part :D.

Hmmm... there's also the wordiness of some of the lines, but with having to match the mouth flaps, it can't really be helped.

Other than that, I think the extras might need a bit more work put into them. In the Desperate Revival vid, there was a part where one of them was talking about a gun and... they sounded kinda bored.

Overall though, this is definitely one of the best fandubs I've found for Conan, probably even the best. Keep working at it and good luck

  9. /me finds thread :o

Not sure when I'm going to join this, but I probably will at some point so~

Well, one thing we can do to prevent people from complaining why they weren't able to sign up quickly is to announce the date and time of the sign-up time beforehand. So it's first come, first serve. So...if we announce it beforehand....people will be able to expect when it will be and try their best to be there when the time arrives. The time and date should be specific, but...because of timezones.....Well, what we can do to overcome that timezone problem is instead of posting the date and time as it is, why not post it like:

THE SIGN-UP WILL START IN 3 DAYS AND 6 HOURS.

So that people will know when it'll start and expect it. Well...they just have to compute the time, of course.onioncleanplz.gif?1

Although, maybe having it more like...

...where you also link to a website like that could be useful. Just go onto timeanddate.com and look for the event time announcer, then choose the time you want. Should make it simpler for players in different timezones and won't take much more time on behalf of the mod of the round.

Also, for godmodding, would a compromise where people can choose who they 'hand over' their character to? So, if they don't want to be godmodded, well... they won't be, and others can PM the mod to say who has control over their character. The mod can then announce in the thread who is allowed to.

Not the best solution if no one decides to hand over their character, but it should work for those for and against godmodding hopefully

(I feel like I'm just taking DCTP Mafia ideas and applying them to this :|. Sorry D: :xxx)

  10. What did Jirokichi mean by "Shirou's wee lass?"

Shirou is Sonoko's father so in context "Aha! So you came, Shirou's wee lass!" is a bit like saying "You came after all, Shirou's little girl!", only 'wee lass' is so much less awkward sounding than the alternatives. I don't know how it directly translates though.

EDIT: Oh, Chekhov already answered unless the posts got messed up somehow o.O... *headdesks*

  11. In case anyone was wondering about more detail on the bottle trick, it involves a magnet holding a coin on the inside of the bottle. Basically, the magician knocks the outside coin against the glass, at the same time removing the magnet and hiding the outside coin to make it appear as though the coin has appeared on the inside of the bottle. Or at least that's how I remember it. I saw it on TV ages ago...

*totally didn't post just to say the 'I saw it on TV' line*
