  1. So I've started doing my own DC Rewatch mini-project in which I post on my Tumblr about each episode as I watch them. So far I've gotten the first 6 episodes done and hope to finish up to 10 this weekend. This project will continue until I've caught up on episodes (and therefore will simply be called DC Watch at that point, lol).

Check it out if you're interested!

  2. awesome collections~! <3

@skyechan: how do you manage to "protect your manga from harm" (LOL) ?

I collect case closed too, but the pages turn brown as months pass...I don't know the reason for this. mellow.gif

Pages turning colours?? Mmm, I imagine eventually all books in general yellow (or turn colours) with age. My Case Closed volumes look alright as do my Japanese volumes. For the most part my manga sits on a bookshelf unless of course I have it out to look at/read. Now, if you're in a different country than the US or Japan, it's possible that the publication of the manga in your country uses a different weight and brand of paper for printing. For example, I'm making a wild hunch that because the Malaysian manga publication is fairly cheap in comparison to the Case Closed or Japanese printings that they might use a cheaper, easier to get paper, which could account for pages yellowing (or browning) with age fairly quickly. So there might honestly be nothing you can do about it, other than keeping your manga from being exposed to sunlight by keeping it safe on a bookshelf. (Sunlight exposure changes the colours of many things, not just book pages.)

Another thing could be the material of the paper reacting to the oils from your hands. You can try washing your hands with soap and water before reading your manga to help protect it. (I don't do this when I read manga personally, but occasionally before picking up my game controllers to play video games, mainly to get a better grip on the controller.)

And of course, if you ever run into the problem of your pages bending, simply don't open the book quite as much. You don't need to open up the pages completely in order to read its contents. (As a matter of fact, way back when in the early 90s in the US the Mixx publications would end up losing pages from the binding if you did this. So I suppose my habit of not opening pages all the way comes from that. Many of my old print Sailor Moon mangas have loose pages due to crappy binding.)

On a side note, my movie collection is complete! (For now anyway.)

  3. CDs ~> all 15 movies, Detective Conan VS Lupin the 3rd, Episodes 105-200, OVA 5, 9, 11

    My collections:

    9 CD/DVD ?

Oh, do you both mean VCD? :) What country are you guys in?? VCDs are pretty much unheard of where I live. (Actually to be honest I didn't know about them until I started looking for information about Conan in Thai!)

  4. Mmm, cute idea, but just for fun. This would be of no use on the actual wiki. *shrug*

Because of my previous escapades in the Danny Phantom fandom I'm doing pairing names based on the ideas from that fandom. (i.e. don't shove the word "shipping" on the end, the pun is the shipping name.)

Truth Blossom: Shin'ichi x Ran (Ran means "Orchid")

    Little Blossom: Conan x Ran

    Scientific Method: Shin'ichi x Shiho/Conan x Ai

    Handcuffed Ahou: Heiji x Kazuha

    Sleeping Justice: Kogoro x Eri

    Acting Author: Yuusaku x Yukiko

    Division Duo: Takagi x Sato

    Educated Swan: Shiratori x Sumiko

    Scarred Hat: Megure x Midori

    Loyal Love: Makoto x Sonoko

    Traffic Ranger: Chiba x Miike

    Bright Comet: Akai x Akemi

    Martini: Gin x Vermouth (Duh. =w=;; )

    Deadly Science: Gin x Sherry

    Magic Mop: Kaito/Kid x Aoko

    Red Magic: Kaito/Kid x Akako

    Flamboyant Truth: Kaito/Kid x Shinichi

    London Magic: Hakuba x Kaito/Kid

And one I couldn't figure out without shoving "shipping" on the end: Compass Shipping: Heiji x Shin'ichi

  5. Oh, no. Excuse me. Not 'met'... Edit: Maybe Sera have known Shinichi in US. I mean, she's seen him somehow, not met him. Like... maybe she saw his deduction on the flashing stage and became interested in him? And began investigating him and stuff... a fan maybe (...or a stalker)?

The stage case would've been credited to Yukiko or Radish Redwood. Shin'ichi wasn't given the credit for that. The only case related to America he could've gotten credit for was the one on the plane to New York. Akai while in New York chasing Vermouth/the serial killer doesn't know about Shin'ichi at all at this point (he only bumps into Ran), so I don't think it's possible for him to have mentioned Shin'ichi to Sera. It certainly doesn't seem like Shin'ichi and Sera bumped into each other at some point either.

Now it is possible that wanting to keep up to date on events in Japan that while in America Sera kept reading Japanese newspapers or such (maybe also in hopes of figuring out what her big brother was up to). So, technically she could have learned about Shin'ichi through news reports while she was located in America.

EDIT: Haaaah, need to double-check my writing.

  6. OH GOD! How'd you get all those!!??  :???: :evil::twisted:

Savvy internet shopping for the most part. :)

Japanese 1-67 (I think) came from Sasuga Booksellers before they shut down. They were at a few conventions I went to so I built up my collection from them. The Color Works artbook and Magic Kaito volumes 1-4 also came from their store.

Special 1-35 was bought via a Yahoo!Japan auction through shoppingmalljapan.com. 36 was bought via YesAsia, if I remember right.

English volumes and DVDs come from Amazon.com or were bought in Borders before they closed down their stores.

The rest of my stuff basically was either bought via Yahoo!Japan auctions or CDJapan.

  7. Edit: Please vote for your opinion on whether or not all keyhole characters should have profile pages or not. Please note that newly registered users and anonymous IPs will not be able to vote. Sorry!

    --------

    Copy-paste from discussion on http://www.detectiveconanworld.com/wiki/Characters:

"Now I realize Maurice has previously stated we should provide info on notable minor characters, but isn't our list a little too excessive? Shouldn't a majority of the people on the list now simply be on the minor recurring characters list or something? Could we just make a page for Notable case characters?

Here's who I think needs to be moved or removed entirely:

Asami Tsuburaya - Minor recurring character

Genji Kojima - Notable case character

Inspector Momose - Minor recurring character; Not notable enough to need a profile page

Chosuke Takagi - Notable case character; Not notable enough to need a profile page

Detective Kobayashi - Minor recurring character (I think?); Not notable enough to need a profile page

Fumimaro Ayanokoji - Minor recurring character

Misae Yamamura - Notable case character

Reiko Kujo - Minor recurring character

Natsuki Koshimizu - Notable case character; Not notable enough to need a profile page

Junya Tokitsu - Notable case character; Not notable enough to need a profile page

Samizu Kichiemon - Minor recurring character

Fusae Campbell - Notable case character

Kazumi Tsukamoto - Minor recurring character; Not notable enough to need a profile page

Kyosuke Haga - Notable case character; Not notable enough to need a profile page

Maria Higashio - Notable case character; Not notable enough to need a profile page

Hikaru Yasumoto - Notable case character; Not notable enough to need a profile page

Ryujiro Uematsu - Notable case character; Not notable enough to need a profile page

Minerva Glass - Notable case character; Not notable enough to need a profile page

Apollo Glass - Notable case character; Not notable enough to need a profile page

My solution to our extensive Character list is to simply create a page similar to the "Minor recurring characters" page for "Notable case characters". Information currently on those with profile pages can be moved to this new page and the old profile pages be deleted. I understand we want to provide as much information as possible, but seriously, some of these characters I don't see why they need to be listed on the main characters page."

Please voice your opinions on the matter here or on the discussion page of the wiki.

  8. Just a random thought... Who else noticed Snake held the gun in his right hand for this episode, but in the manga he used his left hand? Snake uses his right hand later on in the manga series, so I'm guessing the left handed shot was a mistake. This episode confirms that I guess.

You probably had been looking at a flipped translation. Looking at my Japanese volume Snake is definitely using his right-hand.
