  1. There's a system in place to register your nickname. This way, if someone else uses it, after a few seconds or so, they will get renamed to something random.

    To register your username, just type the following command (while already having your desired nickname):

    /msg NickServ register <*********> <gkoko@gmail.com>

    Then you will receive an email to confirm your registration. Follow the instructions and you're good to go. :P

    The next time you go into the IRC channel, you simply need to login. If I recall correctly, it's something like:

    /msg NickServ identify <password>

    Oh, thank you, Maurice :o

    But...

    /msg NickServ register <*********> <gkoko@gmail.com>

    Where to put the desired nickname :unsure: ?

  2. Now for the 4th letter from the 'k' section; 'け' [ke] (and 'げ')!

    Hiragana: Lesson 9 - 'け' [ke] & 'げ' [ge]

    100px-Japanese_Hiragana_kyokashotai_KE.png

    け, in hiragana, or ケ in katakana, is one of the Japanese kana, each of which represents one mora. Both represent [ke]. The shape of these kana come from the kanji 計 and 介, respectively.

    Pronunciation:

    'け' is romanized 'ke'

    Word beginning with 'け':

    1. 結婚 = っこん (kekkon -> marriage)
    2. 刑事 = いじ (keiji -> (police) detective)
    3. 警部 = いぶ (keibu -> inspector)
    4. けち臭い = ちくさい (kechikusai -> mean; stingy [adj.])

    Stroke order:

    240px-%E3%81%91-bw.png

    Hiragana_%E3%81%91_stroke_order_animation.gif

    Same with the previous 'k's lessons, a dakuten (I just realised what it is called -> gonna edit the rest of the previous lessons :P) may be added to this character; this changes it to 'げ' [ge] in hiragana. け + " = げ (look below)

    240px-%E3%81%92-bw.png

    Pronunciation:

    'げ' is romanized 'ge'.

    Word with 'げ':

    1. 元気 = げんき (genki -> spirit; health - ex. o-genki desu ka? Literally meaning: Are you healthy? -> but usually translated to -> How are you? ^^)

    Note: You shall write 'け' & 'げ' 50 - 100 times in your textbook. If you want, like with the previous lessons, write 'け' 70 times and 'げ' 30 times . Memorize the shape, the stroke order, the sound, the pronunciation (echo the sound of the character each time you write it down), etc. And after do that, write 'か', 'き', 'く', and 'け', one after the other repetitively (か, き, く, け, か, き, く, け, etc.) 50 times (100 if you have time).

    I am seeing if there's any mistake...

    Thanks, blueberry-chan (+1)! Those are very useful! I learnt something great today!

    ...

    But... that was insulting th_093.gif

  4. Awesome review, Bullet-chan ^^! I also think that erm... well, Gin & Sherry are former lovers is erm... not true. Gin... -> I don't want to go off-topic here so I'd just say it out loud in that referring topic :P

    Oh, and I have this amusing idea... see the video below. I was bored and I made it... no, no, no... I don't want any credit because none of its content is mine... NONE! And to that I didn't list it in my channel... but anyone with the link can view it. This is just an example to my (idea) suggestion ^^ I made it in a rush so only the beginning looks nice and the rest is all somehow random <_<

    It would be awesome if you guys do this :D Putting the pics and videos of the subject you are talking about ^_^

    PS. I don't think the video I did is good. It was lame because I did it in a rush and I don't have that much material in my computer and...

  5. Now moving on to lesson 8... Hiragana KU (and GU)!

    Hiragana: Lesson 8 - 'く' [ku] & 'ぐ' [gu]

    100px-Japanese_Hiragana_kyokashotai_KU.png

    く, in hiragana, or ク in katakana, is one of the Japanese kana, which each represent one mora. Both represent [ku͍], and their shapes come from the kanji 久.

    Pronunciation:

    'く' is romanized 'ku'

    Word beginning with 'く':

    1. 雲 = も (kumo -> cloud)
    2. 蜘蛛 = も (kumo -> spider)
    3. 頚 = び (kubi -> neck)
    4. 口 = ち (kuchi -> mouth)
    5. 黒 = ろ (kuro -> black)
    6. 国 = に (kuni -> country)
    7. 熊 = ま (kuma -> bear)

    Stroke order:

    137px-%E3%81%8F-bw.png

    Hiragana_%E3%81%8F_stroke_order_animation.gif

    Same with the two previous lessons (か [ka] & き [ki]), the Japanese character 'ku く' can easily be modified/change to 'gu 'ぐ'' by adding a dakuten (two small little curve) at the top on the right: く + " = ぐ (look below)

    160px-%E3%81%90-bw.png

    Pronunciation:

    'ぐ' is romanized 'gu'.

    Word beginning with 'ぐ':

    1. ぐらい (gurai -> about; around [time])
    2. る (guruguru -> turning round and round)

    Note: You shall write 'く' & 'ぐ' 50 - 100 times in your textbook. If you want, like with the previous lesson, write 'く' 70 times and 'ぐ' 30 times :P. Memorize the shape, the stroke order, the sound, the pronunciation, etc. And after you've done that, write 'か', 'き', and 'く' one after each (か, き, く, か, き, く, etc.) 50 times (100 if you have time).

  6. @Kenny: Gasp! I made a mistake! Because of the lessons I just posted and because I was so tired that day I quite didn't notice that Cheesus actually referred to 'I' instead of 'she' and 'he'... *sigh*. So sorry :(!

    Thanks for the announcement, Kenny-sensei! I'll be putting the URL in the first post :).

  7. so what if its past tense. what would it end like?

    Mmmm... since Kenny-sensei isn't available yet, I guess I will answer to this, Cheesus-kun.

    The past tense ends in 'mashita' for the polite form and 'ta' for the plain form.

    Following the previous examples "私 は りんご を食べいます (watashi wa ringo wo tabete imasu -> I'm eating an apple)"

    • Watashi wa ringo wo tabemashita (polite) -> I ate an apple.
    • (Watashi wa) ringo wo tabeta (plain) -> I ate an apple.

    In case you are wondering why I put 'watashi wa' in the brackets.. it's because, in Japanese, the object (as well as the subect) can be omitted when it is known or obvious. Here was because it was obvious, and 'watashi' is formal and it's quite awkward putting it with the plain past 'ta'. <- I wonder if what I said makes sense.

    Oh, just some additional information... If you want to say, 'I was eating an apple', this is how you say it -> 'ringo wo tabete ita [plain]' and as for the polite form -> 'ringo wo tabete imashita.'

    'WAKARIMASHITA' <- I guess you heard this said by officer Takagi a lot :P Literally meaning; 'understood!'

    I'm so lame in explaining stuff, that's why I said it would be best to wait for Kenny-sensei :(.

  8. i just dont understand.

    So you have kiぎ and if you add ' to the end of it it changes the last letter so like ka,ko,ke

    No, no, no!

    You have き, if you add this " to the letter -> き -> ぎ it sound will turn to 'gi'.

    Did I make it clear 023.gif, Cheesus-kun?

  9. i give up on understanding my computer XD i'll just see if i can find any other links...

    Kiel-chan!! Try again 0eeeff42.gif! Check the links I provided again 016.gif!

    smiley.gif

    LOL! Isn't that smiley from DCTP 07baa27a.gif?

    i dont get ぎ''. So if you add a ' at the end it changes?

    Umm... can you explain more clearly Cheesus-kun th_104_.gif? Is there some errors in the lesson 5c745924.gif?

  10. Hiragana: Lesson 7 - 'き' [ki] & 'ぎ' [gi]

    100px-Japanese_Hiragana_kyokashotai_KI.png

    Pronunciation:

    'き' = is romanized 'ki'.

    Word beginning with 'き':

    1. 木 = (ki -> tree; wood; timber)
    2. 切る = る (kiru-> to cut)
    3. 着物 = もの (kimono -> Japanese traditional clothing)
    4. きのう (kinou -> yesterday)
    5. きみ (kimi -> you)
    6. 訊く = きく (kiku -> to hear; to listen; to ask; request)

    Stroke order:

    300px-%E3%81%8D-bw.png

    Same with the previous lesson, the Japanese character 'ki き (and the other 4)' can easily be modified/change to 'gi 'ぎ'' by adding two small little curve at the top on the right (look below).

    280px-%E3%81%8E-bw.png

    Word with 'ぎ':

    右 = みぎ (migi -> right)

    Note: You shall write 'き' & 'ぎ' 50 - 100 times in your textbook. If you want, like with the previous lesson, write 'き' 70 times and 'ぎ' 30 times :P. Memorize the shape, the stroke order, the sound, the pronunciation, etc. Oh, and after you do that, write 'か' and 'き' one after each (か, き, か, き, か, き, etc.) 50 times (100 if you have the time).

    Will be going to the next character in a short time.

    PS. There's another thing with 'き' and 'ぎ'... mmm... but because those certain (や (ya),ゆ (yu), よ (yo)) characters aren't yet introduced, I think we'll discuss it later when we get to know/learn about them first.

    Oh, and I (if Kenny-sensei isn't yet available) will be answering the questions above in a short time -> Kaoko-senpai is currently very busy :(.

  11. Don't worry, it's not forbidden here (as far as I know -> I've seen lot of members doing it) :P

    And about Google translator, I think they (French & English) would do better than translation from Japanese to X. both English and French are from Europe so... I think they would make more much sense (from translating things to Japanese).

    Talk to you soon! :D

    PS. I checked your website and read some of the articles and I thought they were awesome! I'll go and see it again when I have time :P.

  14. when downloading it it has this error saying it can't save the file on my computer... for both links... i've tried like 3 times for each link

    Umm... maybe your hard disk is full? Try moving your files (videos, pictures, stories, etc) from disk C (if they were there) to disk: D and try again f529a952.gif. You may have virus in your computer e111de78.gif, take it to CPU shop :(

    ka~ Got it :D

    Memorized it :P? The shape, the sound, the stroke order, etc?

    @OfficerKaoko err... did you write 'い' instead of 'か' in places on purpose? Anyway, cool lessons :mrgreen:

    OMG! Sorry! I use Chrome and it's all like... squares 1b38f9e2.gif. I write them (the Japanese characters) in Njstar and copy-paste it here. Guess that I made the error without noticing. Thank you for pointing it out, Stopwatch-chan :D! And many thanks! Keep up and stay tuned :P~ f529a952.gif

    Yes. ^_^

    Ohh... sugoi, sugoi *adding Xcommando to the list :D*

    question:

    i know います takes place in the present. But lately i have been having these sentences in my Learning program that give me sentences that do not end in imasu. Im trying to figure out if its past or present tense.

    I figured as much, Cheesus-kun :P.

    います is the polite version of 'いる'.

    Watashi wa ringo wo tabete iru (plain) -> I am eating apple.

    Watashi wa ringo wo tabete imasu (polite) -> I'm eating apple.

    Umm... or you probably heard something like (following the example above) watashi wa ringo wo tabeteru (I am eating apple). Another thing that needs to be mentioned about the Te Form + iru is that it is often "slurred" together :P. For example, tabete iru (eating) will sound like tabeteru. In fact, it is even written this way — with the i in iru omitted — in comics and novels where the writer wants to show characters using everyday conversational Japanese :D. I'm sure you've heard of this when characters in anime says, 'wakatteru! (-> I know!)'

    I hope this helps :D~ But just in case, let's hear Kenny-sensei's opinion and see what he says :)014.gif.

    Also. かれわ (kare wa) refers to I as a guy(am i right?) and kanojo wa refers to I as a girl(am i right?). but ive been also getting senteces reffering to kids. i think it was kadomo(かども). Am i right?

    You are right in the first two beginning but I think the third what you are trying to say is こども (kodomo) :P.

    Let's wait and hear what Kenny-sensei says :D.

  15. Now that we've finished with the vowels' section, let's move on to the next, and this will be 'k' section and which can also be modified to 'g'.

    Hiragana: Lesson 6 - 'か' [ka]

    100px-Japanese_Hiragana_kyokashotai_KA.png

    Pronunciation:

    'か' = is romanized 'ka'.

    Word beginning with 'か':

    1. ぎ (kagi -> key)
    2. 買う = う (kau -> to buy)
    3. 傘 = さ (kasa -> umbrella)
    4. れ (kare -> he)
    5. 風 = ぜ (kaze -> wind)

    Stroke order:

    200px-%E3%81%8B-bw.png

    The Hiragana か is made with three strokes:

    1. A horizontal line which turns and ends in a hook facing left.
    2. A curved vertical line that cuts through the first line.
    3. A small curved line on the right.

    The Japanese character 'ka か (and the other 4)' can easily be modified/change to 'ga/i/u/e/o' by adding two small little curve at the top on the right (look below).

    240px-%E3%81%8C-bw.png

    Word with 'が':

    1. ひらな (Hiragana -> Japanese characters: hiragana~)
    2. き (gaki = brat; kid)
    3. 'が' is also used for particle indicating a subject. Ex. adding soon.. (we will be introducing the Japanese particles in the future, hopefully. After we finish with the characters~)

    Note: You shall write 'か' at least 50 - 100 times in your textbook. If you want, you can also separate them, like write 'か' 70 times and 'が' 30 times :D. Will be going to the next character in a short time ;)

  16. I would be making this thread. Saying, how would you react if you meet DC characters in real life... which characters do you think that you'd get along with, which characters you probably don't like to be with, how would you like the characters... etc, etc, etc.

    http://www.cute-factor.com/images/smilies/missbone/miss-bone-87.gif[/img]']There has already been a forum thread and poll of which character gets on your nerves the most but how about one about if you met a particular Detective Conan/Magic Kaito character in real life would you like them? This can be character you do like in the series but may not be able to tolerate their presence in a real life situation and vice versus. This can either be if you know or don't know this was a Detective Conan/Magic Kaito character.

    I'll start with Kogoro: just his smoking would really bother me but his drinking habits would make me really uncomfortable. Heck his usually behavior when he's sober would make me want to call "Child Protective Services" for both Conan and Ran.

    I would like Conan as my encyclopaedia <3

  17. Revision of lesson 1 - 5 has been edited ->

    Kaoko your lessons are the best 088.gif

    Arigatou, Cheesus-kun... 4fd9f2d3.gif

    That's not true, you're awesome, Kao-chan <3

    Thank you, Parkur <3

    ...

    My lessons... are... too difficult...

    miss-bone-51.gif

    also, sorry i can't be too involved (not on too often) but once i find a japanese program that i can download that will work with my computer i'll also try to help a bit ^^ i don't really know many japanese words, but i know most of the hiragana... so i can translate things into romaji, i just can't translate into english XD

    Check out the links I provided again. Or describe the details. I may be able to help you, Kiel-chan 074.gif.

    Watashi wa Tanner-kun.

    Kimi no namae wa 'Tanner-kun' desu ka? Utsukushii o-namae 014.gif.

    Would you like to join, Xcommando? :D

    My translation:

    Somewhere, a small voice could be heard. "Heave ho, heave ho. It's heavy."

    It was a bud of a fuki near the bamboo forest.

    Popping his head up from under the snow,

    trying very hard to push the snow away

    "Heave ho, heave ho. I want to see the outside."

    Please note that よいしょ、 よいしょdoesn't exactly mean heave ho. It's basicly a phrase that describes when the person (or thing) is panting. In this case, the fuki (a japanese plant) is panting from pushing the snow off of him.

    Subarashii, Kenny-sensei :o! Your translations are amazing, I love it :D. Domo arigatou...

    Ohh, so that's how it was. 'よいしょ、 よいしょ', I asked a native speaker about it, but they said that it doesn't have an English translation. But... if you translate it to 'heave ho, heave ho,' it makes a lot of sense :o . Oh, so 'fuki' is a Japanese plant? I always though it was just a plant :lol: .

    All of my wondering questions in my mind about this page (of the story) has been answered :D. Sugoi, Kenny-sensei. Kimi wa saikou! Domou arigatou gozaimashita!

    Is it OK if I post the third page :mrgreen: ?
