    Even if Ai does love Conan, I seriously doubt she would tangibly declare it. Ai probably knows that any romantic feelings she may have for Conan will not be reciprocated (for reasons we know very well), so if she openly declared her love for Conan to him, it could very well alienate him from her (the two depend on each other for protection/survival to a significant extent - if one of them gets found out the other will be in jeopardy as well).

    You've got the point there. I don't think she will declare it either. If I suppose she will, then that would be her last words when she is about to die (in Shinichi's arms) 07baa27a.gif.

    Shinichi only loves Ran. Conan only loves Ran too. Shinichi and Conan are the same. Therefore, they only love Ran. Which means, Ai is the only one who likes Conan/Shinichi. o_O

    You got the point. Shinichi and Ran loves each other. While is Ai and Conan, it is only one sided love.

    Alright, I know that nobody people were concerned that I left the Onion Head Fan Club (even Maurice looked! Wowzas!)

    I decided to officially make a statement to why I am leaving.

    The reason. Club. Is. Inactive.

    Ok, that's just a minor factor. Along with buberry's absence on the forums (she is back), and several other reasons.

    The real reason: I'm tired. This club doesn't feel right to me anymore. I'm not an avid onion user (the main reason I joined this was *ahem* buberry).

    So, guys. Hope you understand. Bye.

    Hiragana: Lesson 18 - 'つ' [tsu] & 'づ' [dzu]

    つ, in hiragana, or ツ in katakana, and the variant form ㋡, is one of the Japanese kana, each of which represents one mora. Both are phonemically /tu͍/ although for phonological reasons, the actual pronunciation is ‘tsu’. In the Ainu language, where the sound /tu͍/ does exist, it is often written as ツ゚ or ト゚.

    Pronunciation:

    'つ' is romanized 'tsu'.

    Words with 'つ':-

    'つ' at the beginning:

    1. 土/つち (tsuchi -> earth; soil; dirt)
    2. 月/つき (tsuki -> moon)
    3. 次/つぎ (tsugi -> next)
    4. 翼/つばさ (tsubasa -> wings)

    'つ' in the middle:

    1. 殺人/さつじん (satsujin -> murder)
    2. 美しい/うつくしい (utsukushii -> beautiful)

    'つ' at the end:

    1. 警察/けいさつ (keisatsu -> police)
    2. 待つ/まつ (matsu -> to wait)
    3. 勝つ/かつ (katsu -> to win; to gain victory)
    4. 術/じゅつ (jutsu -> method; technique)

    Note: 'づ' [dzu] isn't used as the first letter for words anymore. It's kinda like 'ぢ', used once then poof *gone*.

    The sokuon: it may also be called 小さな つ (chiisana tsu) or ちいさい つ (chiisai tsu), meaning 'small tsu'. You'll often see this in between words and wonder why 'つ' is unusually small. Well, The sokuon is used for various purposes. The main use is to mark a geminate consonant, which is represented in rōmaji (romanized Japanese) by the doubling of the consonant. In speech, the protocol is to motion the mouth into pronouncing the consonant that follows the sokuon and then stop, allowing a slight pause before voicing the consonant.

    It can also be seen at the end; A glottal stop or “choked sound”.

    • あっ！ Ah!

    Again, the sokuon: a small form of つ (tsu). In romanization, this is represented by doubling the following consonant. The equivalent in katakana is ッ.

    • いっぱい — ippai (lot of; much; full)
    • もっと — motto (more; even more)
    • すっぱい — suppai (sour)
    • 学校 /がっこう — gakkou

    Task: You shall write 'つ' & 'づ' 50 - 100 times in your textbook. If you want, like with the previous lessons, write 'つ' 70 times and 'づ' 30 times. Memorize the shape, the stroke order, the sound, the pronunciation (echo the sound of the character each time you write it down), etc. You may also want to practice the small 'つ' (っ): how you should write it, it is just the same how you write the ordinary one (つ) except smaller.

    And after you've done that, write 'た', 'ち', and 'つ' one after each repetitively (た, ち, つ, た, ち, つ etc.) 50 times (100 if you have time).

    Shiho and Saguru as a couple? Was there a scene where the two had contact to each other?

    Since I've never seen them being together I cannot take to the idea though they have some similarities as you pointed.

    But I do love AiCon and ShinShi as a paring. too bad that these parins couldn't be made...they are so cute.

    And it's a pitty that Ai has no one as a spouse. She is such an attractive character. Mituhiko seems to have a romantic feeling toward her but I don't like the paring.

    Shinichi and Shiho however do make a good pairing, but sadly... it will end up as Shinichi X Ran.

    I don't like Mitsuhiko being with Haibara either. It's too creepy. The idea send shivers up my spines afd371da.gif. I mean... the age gap, even their characterize don't match.

    Shiho and Saguru makes good pairing IMHO. Gosho doesn't leave his characters without one (spouse). So I personally guarantee he will pair them up ;-).

    To those who would like to study japanese (and particularly kanji), I suggest using James Heisig's "Remembering the Kanji". I've been using the french translatd version (since it's my first language) for about 2 months now and I know how to write a little less than 1 000 kanji. I use this site to train and make sure I remember them properly on a long term basis. The issue with that book is that it doesn't teach you how to pronounce or use them in a sentence, but I think that mastering hundreds of kanji is already a big step, though only a small one in fully mastering the language, obviously.

    Oh, thank you, Wakari. But wow, how many Kanjis do you know now :o? I'm studying Kanji with this book:

    It is also very good and simple, I thought Kanji was really difficult, but when I used this book I learnt that they are all just a bunch of simple kanji put together. But I will take a look at the site you recommended ;).

    Haha, sorry for not posting lessons lately. I am currently working on the hiragana 'tsu'. But I am having a difficulty in explaining one of the parts. I will have to get Kenny-sensei to look at it first (so to edit it) before posting it.

    It's preferable to know your kanas before starting that, but that's done relatively quickly (I learned them in 4 days in a very academic fashion : writing them over and over again). ;)

    Wow, that's he exact method I did when I was learning Hiragana and Katakana :o. First I do the vowel section, writing them over and over again, then I went with the k section, I write from ka to ko over and over again, and then from vowel section and k section, in order and repetitively, over and over again, etc. till my textbook is really full!

    I am glad I found some times as to stop by to read your Fan-Fic. It made me laugh reading the final part; it was all just a play th_053_XD.gif! Good job on that! It was a good twist JFBQ00184070402A.gif~

    Ran would be too shy as to give Shinichi a chocolate in public.

    Shinichi is too rude as to do this in public (to kiss Shiho -> and not to mention - RIGHT infront of RAN and in PUBLIC ali_069.gif) --> reminds me of Spiderman 3. When Peter purposely danced with another girl to make MaryJane jealous sillyp1.gif.

    And in most animes I had watched so far... guys don't mind receiving chocolate from ANY girl (including Kaito) df13952b.gif! It is very rude as to decline a chocolate given to you especially when they had put all their efforts in to it ali_029.gif. It is heart breaking 064.gif!!

    Aside all that, it is an excellent fan fic 088.gif.

    Though it would be more romantic if you made it this way:

    Ran gives her chocolate to Shinichi (at school).

    Shinichi walks home, and was about to eat the chocolate when a dog snatches it away from him and eats it.

    Shinichi greatly dissapointed walks home as to see Shiho standing infront of his house gate.

    She hesitantly gives him a chocolate she had made in the lab, an experiment chocolate.

    Ran's chocolate worth dogs food ali_064.gif, while Shiho's chocolate won Shinichi's heart 069.gif.

    Nah, I don't think Conan ever loves Ai, maybe as a close friend who shared the same fate... but as far as love her? No, I don't think so.

    I can say that maybe Ai loves Conan cd08785a.gif as hinted in many episodes (or chapters)... or at least like him. But I think she had given up on Conan as the story went on ali_058.gif. Because nothing can break the relationship between Ran and Shinichi ali_033.gif. And Ai isn't that evil as wanting to do that so she can have him ali_092.gif.

    Oh, and I voted for 'Only Ai loves Conan' 4412144b.gif.

    The latter I agree.

    The Detective Boys...let's see how it lines up:

    Genta: Fat Guy (uh...sure. Both love to eat in a way...love to see Genta sing.)

    Mitsuhiko: Other Guy (not too much. The sci-fi factor is there, but weaker in one.)

    Ayumi: The Girl: Haibara (Uh...comparisons between girls I cannot do)

    Conan: Nobita (Absolute opposites. Like comparing apples and oranges. Conan's the genius, Nobita's the absolute idiot. Only similarity is their glasses, and they look different).

    Cause I don't know the names of the characters, please fill me on them.

    Now how the personality match up, but the way how they look :P

    • Conan: main character, spectacles, Agasa as... (like Sherlock and Watson) -> Nobita; main character, spectacles, Doraemon as... (Like Conan and Agasa) :D
    • Ayumi -> Shizuka... umm, just the only girl in the group of boys.
    • Mitsuhiko -> Soneo... the way they look.
    • Genta -> Gian... the same as you dscribe, hehe.
    • Agasa -> Doraemon... they invent stuff (not really in Doraemon's case :P).

    Due to both ‘じ’ and ‘ぢ’ having a similar pronunciation it may be difficult to differentiate them. However, one way to tell the difference is by removing the dakuten and seeing if the original word is a shi or chi. Post 1945, no words in the Japanese language start with the letter ‘ぢ’.

    Same with ‘じ’, ‘ぢ’ is romanized ‘ji’ and also pronounced the same way.

    YO-ON

    In the Japanese language there are also contracted words called 拗音 (yo-on) (as mentioned in lesson 12). They are made up of two letters written together. A Hiragana ending with “i” such as ki (き), shi (し), etc... followed by a small ya (ゃ), yu (ゅ) or yo (ょ).

    The hiragana’s ending with “i” also include their dakuten and handakuten versions.

    The yoon’s for 'chi' are:

    1. ちゃ/cha (Pronounced: chya) Ex. 茶色/ちゃいろ chairo (brown)
    2. ちゅ/chu (P: chyu) Ex. 中国/ちゅうごく chuugoku (China)

    Yosh! We had now finished the 's' section! We now covered the vowels (あ, い, う, え, お), the 'k's (か, き, く, け, こ), and the 's's (さ, し, す, せ, そ,). And now we are just going to do a quick review!

    If you mean "Sugee" it's not a very polite form. It's only spoken by young men with bad manners. And it's mostly a spoken expression. It's not in the dictionnay (I mean the japanese-japanese dictionnary 広辞苑).

    I hope that you know you shouldn't try to speak japanese like in manga if you go to Japan one day. You would give a very very bad impression to the japanese people you talk with.

    Actually if you do a japanese basic course you should learn the polite form first.

    That means adjective finish with ~い　or ~な

    I read this warning many times about never to try to speak like in the manga or anime with Japanese people (or people who speaks Japanese)072.gif.

    Oh my bad, I didn't notice this till now...

    All I know that is 'Sugei' and 'Sugoi' mean the same thing... basically an exclamation of awesome. The only difference is that Sugei is more masculine and rough and Sugoi is more feminine. :o

    Story: There's Japanese neighbour living below our apartment. One day, the eldest son (8 years old) came to play. I thought it'd be a good thing to practice my Japanese by talking to him.

    The first thing I did was greet him by saying, 'Ohayo, gakin-chwan 014.gif.'

    He bowed and greeted back, 'ohayo, Onee-san.'

    I was nervous what should I say to begin a conversation, I have no idea why... but I randomly said... 'kekkon shite.'

    0/10 for both... I'm using the detectiveconanworld for mobile phones which means Ŧђǎт I can't see the dispics and signatures unless I change it Τ☺ the normal one which I don't want to

    Why on earth would you visit this thread when you couldn't even see the members' avatar and signature which it is the main subject of this thread. I guess visiting might be OK... but why rate when you couldn't see? Aren't you just being sarcastic th_111_.gif?

    Wow, that's pretty interesting. I didn't watch the first live action film and as for the second I just watch bits of it in Youtube (the interesting parts). But I guess I did watch it (but not in order).

    Too bad, and since I don't understand Japanese I'll have to wait even longer for the subs

    And as for the new one that's about to come... I don't mind having the Fansubs to wait. I would just watch it RAW. The comedic acting of the actors will be just fine enough for me to enjoy the movie (with laughter 071.gif).
