  1. so before that everyone believed that akai was dead?

Everyone? I'm just saying that it was canonically revealed that he faked his death, and how he did it in the Scarlet chapters. That was your question, wasn't it?

James Black and Kir are the only ones who knew for certain if I'm not mistaken, and Shinichi probably has known for some time before the Scarlet files. Amuro certainly had his suspicions as well (or the whole Scar Akai thing would have never happened). Maybe I'm missing someone else in the mix...

As for us? Well most people have known that Subaru was Akai before the Scarlet arc anyways...(704 and Movie 18 both gave it away)

  2. 1. She ordered Calvados to stop shooting, because he was shooting at Ran. He wasn't even aiming for Haibara, so it's pretty clear Vermouth wanted to protect Ran and not Haibara.

    2. What makes you think Haibara/Shiho and Rei are close in age? For all we know, Haibara is 18 and Rei is 29, do you have any reasons to believe otherwise?

Well we don't know for certain either of their ages do we? Haibara is most likely 18 or so though (as she said so herself, and I think the audio tape left by her mother mentioned her upcoming birthday was 19. Rei's age is more of a gamble isn't it? In any case, I doubt they are close in age anyways given Rei's involvement with the Secret Police. Even if 29 is a lie, it probably isn't far off.

  3. first : your words make sense but maybe vermouth was just threatening haibara because when calvados started shooting she cried for him to not make him shoot....

we know that she maybe took the aptx4869 or a developed version of it to make sure she does not die because the probability of the aptx shrunk a person body is 1% ...so i think that if she was Elina Miyano then she made a developed version of aptx for herself and maybe for her husband ,,,and maybe she thinks that aptx(silver bullet)is very dangerous and could destroy the organization enemies so she calls conan and akai that name....

Second:i dont know if she cares for her daughter but i think that when you work in a killing and robbing organization your personality could be changed (just a theory)

But there's something i want to know:if elina took care of rei when he was younger and rei age is close to haibara age so haibara must have seen rei when she was young....

I think that vermouth loves conan and she promised him not to kill sherry and sge maybe told bourbon about the promise so your theory is maybe right....

You are right about akemi and because of that i said it just a theory with no clues....

As for atsushi...gosho said that we knew his full name and he appeared...atsyshi appeared at episode 340 (hidden bathroom secret) in a flashback....

Haibara s parents may be dead but we didnt see any clues on this...

She called out to Calvados to stop firing because he was shooting at Ran (Angel), and Vermouth has a sentimental attachment to both Shinichi and Ran because they saved her in New York when she was disguised as a serial killer to lure out Akai Shuichi.

The "Silver Bullet" is a reference to a person who can destroy the organization, but it's unclear if we can link it to the drug (or if it's even the same one as APTX4869, probably the same project though)

I'm not talking about Atsushi Miyano's appearance in the anime, I'm talking about the manga (although he was mentioned by name in the manga, obviously). I believe when Gosho said that the boss had appeared, it was partial to the manga, and it was quite some time ago as well, towards the beginning of the series. After all, Detective Conan wasn't expected to last that long, let alone 20+ years.

"Maybe" is the key word there. It could be awhile until we know for certain why it is that she doesn't age. Where does it say that APTX has a 1% chance as well, as far as I know, shrinking was just a rare side effect...

  4. I think the boss is Atsushi Miyano because:

1-Aoyama Gosho said that his identity will surprise haibara

2-because Gosho said ano kata was mentioned but did not appear

    now these are my suspicions:

    A-Vermouth is Elina Miyano because:

1-In episode  770 we saw Bourbon s flash back with Elina Miyano when he was a child,,

this means that they knew each other before and we know that Bourbon works under Vermouth.

2-Vermouth saw Haibara a lot but she never killed her...

3-Boubon Said in file 898 that will be aired in the scarlet showdown that Vermouth has a relationship with the boss and all  the BO

will be surprise if they know the relationship,,, so maybe she is his wife(Atsushi miyano),

B-Maybe Akemi Miyano is Rum but i do not have clues on this theory yet...

    ..............................................................................................................................

    Now the conclusion :

1- Atsushi Miyano is the boss....

    2- Vermouth is  Elina Miyano....

    ...........................................................................................................................

    Someone will say:

Q\Why Will Atsushi Kill His daughter?

A\ This is a very dangerous organization and its boss must be with no feelings

    ............................................................................................................................

As for Vermouth, I find it extremely unlikely that she would be Elena Miyano.

Vermouth tried and probably would have killed Haibara had Ran not intervened in 345, as well as in the Mystery Train with the explosives (unbeknownst to Bourbon).

She clearly has a grudge towards the Miyano family in general (for what reason we don't know, but maybe due to their involvement with the "Silver Bullet"). The audio tapes also show that Elena cares for her daughter in demeanor and enough to leave messages behind for her.

She's the former actress Sharon/Chris Vineyard. We already know her real identity. We've never seen Elena's eyes, but I'd say they don't look alike (Elena is also British).

Rei's former relationship with Elena is unclear. She could be the reason he was brought into the organization. They could be related somehow, or Elena could have taken care of him when he was younger, who knows. Bourbon's plan on the Mystery Train originally could have devised to help Haibara fake her death, which is also a theory. Given we know he is a spy, is there anything "really" tying him down to the organization? (He does seem to have a deep interest in Akai Shuichi though, but that's probably due to Scotch)

As for Atsushi, there really isn't much to go on, but didn't Gosho also say that the boss had already appeared in the manga? (I don't think Atsushi has made any appearance in the manga that we know about, not sure if this is relevant at all in the first place)

I'm not sure why Akemi would be Rum, it goes against the code-name "policy" that Gosho uses. Rum should definitely be a man. She's also dead, and we know that Rum now is apparently "on the move". She wasn't important enough to the organization to even receive a code-name.

I'm not discounting the possibility that Atsushi could be the boss, but I think both of Haibara's parents are dead. I don't really have much of a reason to believe otherwise.

  5. i can understand if you watched the the older ones, somewhere after the clash series, more the 3 times

but these new ones are unnecessary to watch more then once

and the AOs, granted there have been 3-4 good ones, but the silver detectives...to watch more then 2 times...no

I didn't watch 777 more than once, and most AOs, never more than twice, not recent ones anyways. In 777's case, it was just a bad episode and there really wasn't anything to miss. The only "interesting" tid-bit in 777 was the way they compared themselves to the DB, and really that's just grasping at straws.

778 went by a little fast to me, and I thought the evidence in question seemed relatively weak. I felt it deserved a re-watch. It's definitely not necessary by any means. I tend to look over silly things, and more than not, I don't catch everything on the first time through.

  6. Phew, as Baltha said, you're strong.  I've watched entire series's four times over before, but that's only because I liked and was invested enough in an anime to care if I had missed something the first, second, or even third times.  For bad anime, I can barely bring myself to finish it the first time I see it.

Well, I'm really not big on anime in general. Detective Conan is really the only one I follow, so I suppose it's not really too big of a deal to make time for it. I didn't really consider 778 to be "bad", not on the same level as 777 anyways, just a bit formulaic. I might get a different impression from sitting down and watching it again tonight (but I doubt it).

  7. Can someone explain what is going on in these chapters? I looked at the first three, but I still can't quite figure it out from the pictures alone.

    Hope this helps!

I think dreamskye7 got up 921-922 last night, but here are some translations from presumenothing regarding 923.

Shin's deduction about the sakura was actually his first. Cut to Shin reading "Adventure of the Dancing Men" under the desk, specifically the quote "if one simply knocks out all the central inferences and presents one’s audience with the starting-point and the conclusion, one may produce a startling, though possibly a meretricious, effect."

When Yukiko scolds him about reading in a dim place and says he'll end up wearing glasses like Yuusaku, Shin says he definitely won't (haha).

At the kindergarten, Shin goes looking for the library but finds the nap room (which apparently reminds him of a morgue he saw in a movie...), sees Ran and deduces that she's making a sakura because her badge had been taken.

He wants to ask Ran if his deduction is correct, and wonders if he can surprise her by following Holmes' quote. Remembering the scene where Ran's badge was snatched by the boy, he realises that wasn't a plastic one either.

One Holmes impersonation later, he thinks (nervously) that Ran should be startled like Watson was, but is surprised when everyone else is impressed yet Ran argues with him about not being a crybaby.

While being being scolded by Yukiko (and thinking that he mustn't let her find the badge hidden in his pocket), he notices the teacher looking at Ran...

  8. Though most of the people here doesn't want to involve kid in the final arc, I kinda want him to be part of the plan set up by Conan. His involvement is necessary for both the DC manga and the Kid manga. Also, the plot of the entire kid series is directly linked to a probable black org member.

It's speculation, but I highly doubt that they are linked. They are most likely entirely separate from one another (and I thought Gosho had already confirmed this at some point)

Detective Conan's main plot definitely doesn't "need" Kid's involvement either.

  9. “前編” simply means “first part”. It could be a three-parter as well. I thought we had info on this from the Animal Crossing messages?

As far as I know, the only Animal Crossing Hint was that Shinichi BOY was finished. The titles are rather ambiguous.

This was on The Red Thread's Facebook page - NEWS! Shonen Sunday 25 will feature the second part of Ran GIRL next week. After that is Shinichi BOY!

Thanks to Fujiwara for the info translation:

"Next file is the 2nd (and last part) of Ran GIRL.

Sounds like Shin is only one part, but they don't explicitly say so."

  10. honestly.. in my country... sadly .. they think its a below 10's kind of CARTOON T^T

Really? That's quite a narrow view, and I wouldn't recommend the show to such a young demographic. Not even for violence or mature themes, but I know I would have had a hard time trying to comprehend what was going on at such a young age. Not to mention there's even a dismembered corpse in one of the earlier episodes. It's toned down quite a bit, but when it aired in the U.S it carried a TV-14 rating, and I think a few episodes were marked as TV-MA.

I suppose I can see why someone might say that, had they never seen the show before.

  11. I don't think it's been overwhelmingly mainstream or anything like that, not outside of Japan, but it's always been a fairly popular series. It even had a very short run on television in the U.S, even if it were at a crappy time-slot.

It's my favorite, and really the only anime I watch, but I wouldn't say that it *needs* to be more popular than what it is. It obviously has massive success in Japan, and I think there is a pretty solid following in other countries. I mean we haven't really seen "Case Closed" in 10 years in the U.S (not counting Crunchyroll), and even then it had a really short run.

It's a completely subjective matter, but obviously the length has something to do with it. VIZ's manga releases are incredibly far behind Japan, and even though Crunchyroll recently picked up "Case Closed", it picked it up right at 754. That's not exactly a good spot for newcomers to pick up the series, and the amount of legal content available to foreign viewers is minimal. Just in the way it's been marketed and distributed, I can't see any reason why it should be as popular as it is outside of Japan. I feel it's in a good spot for what it's worth.

  12. I don't particularly care who people ship, but my argument would be basically because it's canon. Obviously plenty of people might like a different outcome, such as AI x Conan/Shiho x Shinichi, but outside of fan-fiction, it's likely not going to become more than a friendship between the two.

Gosho obviously wants it to be this way, so I support that, and personally I think Ai's character is interesting enough (or used to be) without a love interest.

I'm not a Shin/Ran fan, nor am I a Ai/Conan fan, I just consider myself to be a Detective Conan fan.

There really is no proof that Shinichi has any romantic implications towards Shiho. He's already "confessed", and albeit a bit dodgy, there's been quite a bit of development for Shinichi and Ran as love interests. So again, because it's canon. Do you have to like it? No, certainly not. I actually don't like a majority of the romance throughout the series.

What's the argument for Shiho/Shinichi? Just curious (although I don't really want to open that can of worms). There seems to be a lot less of a basis for supporting a non-canon relationship where only Ai has made very subtle remarks in regards to her feelings towards Shinichi. From what I gather, it's because people think it would be interesting and not as cliche as the canon pairing. But really, would that be the case? I don't really like dabbling too much into fan-fiction, but maybe because I'm not a "fun" individual.

Don't force yourself to like something, that's never a solution. (Being a Shin/Shiho fan really doesn't have anything to do with this though, there are several "problems" throughout DC with romance in particular)

  13. I recently subbed this special, but if you want a link, I'm not sure what the rules are about posting them here... Just do a quick search on tumblr or Google+ and it should turn up no problem. (The video is on G+)

Amateur job to be quite honest (my first time subbing anything, the translations were overly fine) and presumenothing (tumblr) was the translator.

    Hopefully this helps.
