The "truth" hidden in the sword tears the darkness of the night and guides them under the moonlight

An announcement from Kid, the Phantom Thief, is sent to the Onoe Pluteaucrat Storeroom in Hakodate, Hokkaido
He's after a Japanese sword said to have been dwned by Toshizo Hijikata, the vice-chief of the Shinsen-gumi who lived in the Bakumatsu Period (1853-67)
He usually targets big jewels, why is he after a sword this time?

Conan and the detective of the west, Heiji Hattori, visit Hakodate to see a Kendo Tournament.
On the day of the announced theft, Heiji sees through Kid's disguise and manages to corner him. However!

A dead person with a cross carved in their chest is found in a warehouse district.
The investigation points at a "death merchant", a Japanese-American man who acts as an arms dealer across Asia.
He is searching for a treasure that the first leader of the Onoe Family, deeply involved in the military industry during wartime, hid in Hakodate.
Rumors say that it was a weapon that would have turned the tides of war in favor of Japan...
And this treasure is related to the blade that Kid is after.
A mysterious "swordsman" closes on Kid...

A fateful battle mystery over the theft of a treasure will now begin!

And here are additional spoilers, courtesy of Twitter user DCPH Anime and Manga (@conanph0304):

    Spoiler

Muga has a scar like a line on his right arm. Looking at it cause him have a flashback to a younger Momiji. She says that for him to protect her, he "must be in good health." This appears to imply that, in the past, he had injuries which, for a time, prevented him from acting as her bodyguard.

    Long time no talk :D

I like your thought process on this, and indeed, it's in Gosho's character to pull this type of subversion. However, this very same twistful outcome could still be arrived at at the end of her character development journey, that we get to witness in-action through out the rest of the story (rather than her current mindset already being there). We have seen how she has been both ruthless/careless in her ways of accomplishing her goals (the risky reverse-psychology to save Ayumi, using Kobayashi as bait, potentially ready to use the teachers/kids as a shield), and that her head-space is in a state of hatred/pessimism (throwing away Ayumi's charm). I don't think we have any indications to her feeling any shred of remorse yet, since it seems she has let herself get consumed by her hatred.

However we have indications to her starting to let her emotional guard down (as seen with her crying/emoting for Ayumi to the point of swaying Ai into liking her) after having spent some time with DB. I think these smaller moments (that are likely to accumulate through out the rest of her story) has potential to be what makes her also re-evaluate her sins and her views on the innocent Shiho and lead to a redeeming sacrifice to protect the Miyano parents' remaining child. I think this angle is well foreshadowed with the Uematsu (Teitan Elementary principal) panel in Wakasa's intro (966), where he gave the wisdom outloud for Wakasa to hear that everyone must atone for their sins (which portrays it more as a foreshadowing towards Wakasa's journey to learn and adopt that mindset, rather than her already being in that remorseful state).

    Spoiler

Yeah, it's been awhile. How's it going? ^_^

File 906–File 908/Episode 792–Episode 793 caught my attention in the sense of, "Ah, that's where Gosho's endgame will take us", rather than, "Oh, Rachel/Rumi must've grown as remorseful as quickly as the victim of this case, so Rachel's/Rumi's already looking to die for Shiho's/Ai's sake."

So, when it comes to the progression that will lead to her potential attempt to atone with death? Absolutely, there's still room left.

Given all her ruthless methods and actions, I don't think she came into Teitan Elementary already thinking that she had to make up for the death of Atsushi and Elena (if she did indeed have a role to play there). We're seeing that reflection and gradual, gradual thawing of the arctic rage she's felt all this time (and that dates back to even before Kōji and Amanda were murdered, considering what happened to her father), that will make her more and more willing to put the lives of others before the satiation of her cries for vengeance.

The coming inflection point for her is yet another reason I'm eagerly awaiting the big confrontation case, for she is yet another big player with a potentially vital role in that case, depending on how Goshō chooses to play it.

The following chapter potentially gave us the awaited answers to the mysterious Kohji case uploader. Yusaku reveals the suspicions that Wakasa was behind the Kohji case info uploads, and that she monitored the IP address of PC:s that entered the website, which in turn lead her to Conan who used Agasa's PC (File 1111).

    30701d2a6c9ae2cc3548626d45f1e0ec5ad08cb9

This part seemingly resolves the mystery behind the Kohji case uploader, however, it doesn't fully resolve/explain why Wakasa set her eyes on a random curious kid, or how she realized his true competence/value to the point of joining an elementary school. I think this part of Yusaku's suspicions could be complimented with the idea of Asaka having sources that directly confirmed Conan as a valuable asset/player against the organization (i.e Kir, if Asaka is a CIA agent).

Yusaku then started to warn Yukiko about the possibility of Asaka being the type who would go through any lengths to achieve her goals (File 1111), which Gosho seems to wanna emphasize a lot to clarify her character type, as seen even with Rum's subordinates mentioning her potentially using teachers and kids as shields from bullets (File 1112).

    2db1e54538d1e94f20c86fe4c7a3a1ce3884495f

Yusaku then proceeded to analyze her motives for staying in Teitan Elementary for as long as she has, which was also questioned by Rum (File 1112), only to be revealed at the end of the resolution chapter that it'd because of her fixation on Haibara.

Regarding Wakasa's fixation on Haibara, we do know from File 1097 that she blames Haibara's mother for her life getting messed up.

After the reveal of her relationship with Amanda, it's pretty much confirmed that her hatred towards Miyano Elena is due to her being the creator of APTX poison that killed her mother figure. We still don't truly know how exactly the Miyano parents died, apart from the surface-level "lab fire accident" explanation, so there is still room left there for a hidden backstory where Asaka was involved in their death (soon after Haibara's birth 18 years ago, which could have been 17 years ago after the Kohji case).

In File 1070, we learned that Wakasa is aware of Sherry being the successor scientist behind the current APTX creations, and that she betrayed the organization.

      Reveal hidden contents

    d55683ad88992b0c3dae74a6864ed640b1451ebc

However, Wakasa doesn't know if Haibara is continuing her research outside of the organization. It's therefore possible that her fixation on Haibara is due to her trying to find out if Haibara is creating more APTX poison or not, and whether she needs to do something about it (especially if she potentially did something to Haibara's parents in the past).

    Spoiler

Regarding Rachel/Rumi and Shiho/Ai... your train of thought prompts me to bring up a foreshadowing Gosho may have set up earlier in the Rum arc to hint to us about Rumi's motivations and intentions.

It first hit me from reading a thread on Tieba Baidu... a thread concerning File 906–File 908/Episode 792–Episode 793 (the case where Rum's eye injury was revealed for the first time).

The motive behind the death of that case... the victim, a screenwriter, killed herself and disguised it as a murder to expose a certain past killing committed by her and her former partners in crime, the three suspects, and get them arrested. She went so far because she felt remorse over a boy, Mamoru, who had been orphaned in one of her group's robberies. Even though they were strangers, she became close with the boy, talking to him often.

In the end, Shinichi/Conan and Shiho/Ai have this exchange about the victim:

    File 908, Page 15, Panel 6

    Shiho/Ai:

"But don't you think it's cruel?

Having Mamoru-kun be the witness in her suicide plot?"

    File 908, Page 15, Panel 7

    Shinichi/Conan:

"She was apparently being threatened... If she didn't want Mamoru-kun to find out she was part of that robber group, she should hand over the money and keep writing that story...
Or they would kill Mamoru if she didn't rejoin the group, things like that..."

    File 908, Page 15, Panel 8

    Shinichi/Conan:

"That's why she made Mamoru-kun into a witness. Because she was sure the police would protect him if he were a witness...

And then she intended to atone for her crimes by killing herself..."

    File 908, Page 16, Panel 1

    Shinichi/Conan:

"But that was a big mistake.

After causing the death of Mamoru-kun's parents, she also made the one and only friend which Mamoru-kun had made, disappear with her own hands..."

So your comment about Rachel/Rumi having some culpability in Atsushi and Elena's deaths really caught my attention.

Rachel/Rumi trying to protect Shiho/Ai to atone for playing a role in their deaths, rather than vengefully stalking her... a ruthless avenger being willing to sacrifice themselves for the child of the one they blame for their suffering... unintentionally furthering the cycle of misery in a fatalistic sense of atonement... this would definitely fit in line with Gosho's subversion tendencies.

  10. Spoiler

There's a Shiho/AixRan kiss in this movie (drawn by Goshō himself, no less)... honestly, that's at the top of unexpected occurrences for me.

Movie 27 will be the long-teased Heiji Vs Kaitō Kid.

    UPDATE:

Here's a plot summary, courtesy of Weibo and reddit user arcticantls:

    Spoiler

Agent Nina Balmer of Europol calls Jodie while on the run, telling Jodie that she is being chased. Hidemi/Kir chases after Nina on a motorcycle.

When the two reach a bridge, Hidemi/Kir points a gun at her, telling her to jump into the river to escape. When Nina jumps off the bridge, Gin shoots through Hidemi’s/Kir’s shoulder, piercing Nina and killing her instantly, leaving her corpse to sink. Gin blames Hidemi/Kir for a lack of efficiency.

Later, Hidemi/Kir, Rei/Bourbon and Vermouth are in a car together. When Hidemi/Kir asks how Rei’s/Bourbon’s visitation plan is going, Vermouth answered that, so far, everything was going well.

The Detective Boys entered a lottery draw in a mall. The special prize was a trip to Hachijō Island to watch whales, which Doctor Agasa really wanted to go to.

On the way, Shiho/Ai went to a nearby shop to get a voucher for buying a brooch, which happened to be the last one. After the other customers dispersed, an old woman asked if there was really nothing to do be done. Even though the old woman had come by tram and her journey had taken more than an hour, the clerk said that there was nothing to be done. The old woman was very disappointed, but when Shiho/Ai came, Shiho/Ai gave the old woman the last coupon. This scene was witnessed by Ran and Sonoko, who were shopping together. Shiho/Ai returned to the Detective Boys after giving it away. Everyone had drawn all the prizes, but had lost on all of them.

Back at Doctor Agasa’s house, he is especially disappointed, because he had even made a new underwater invention specially for such a trip. Sonoko proposed to take everyone to Hachijō Island, where Suzuki's family resort is located, in order to reward Shiho/Ai. Shūichi/Subaru hears all this through wiretapping, as he looked at a text message on his phone. The text message referred to Nina’s murder, and said that a codenamed BO member named Pinga was involved.

The group arrives at Hachijō Island and drives to Suzuki Resort. In the car, Shiho/Ai was watching the news on her phone. When she saw a female engineer, she had sense of familiarity. Shinichi/Conan sees Ninzaburo on the road near the hotel. Arriving at the hotel, everyone agrees to meet up an hour later. Shinichi/Conan gets a call from Shūichi/Subaru, who tells Shinichi/Conan that Europol’s German Branch was attacked, that Nina had been killed, and gave a warning about Pinga, saying that this information was provided by Hidemi/Kir. The Pacific Buoy will be connected with Europol’s network center. With a bad feeling, Shinichi/Conan thinks that BO members with distilled wine codenames are male.

The group set off to take a boat to watch whales, except for Kogorō, who was already drunk and didn't go. When everyone lined up to board the boat, Shinichi/Conan saw the Metropolitan Police Department's boat with Hyōe on it. Shinichi/Conan asked Doctor Agasa to cover for him, and slipped onto the MPD boat. The rest of the group went to see the whales. Hyōe had actually realized Shinichi/Conan had snuck aboard, but didn’t expose Shinichi/Conan.

Shinichi/Conan used his mobile phone to try and find the location, only to discover that there was no such mark on the map, thus convincing him that the boat was going to the Pacific Buoy.

Hyōe waits until they reach the Pacific Buoy to ask Shinichi/Conan why he’s stowing away. Shinichi/Conan claims that he was going to see the whales but got on the wrong boat. Ninzaburo plans to contact the other boat to have Shinichi/Conan picked up immediately, but Hyōe prevents this.

Shinichi/Conan follows everyone into the Pacific Buoy, and meets the chief engineer and facility manager, Yosuke Makino, and Italo-Japanese-American engineer Naomi Argento—the same female engineer Ai saw. They take the elevator to the control center, and meet more Pacific Buoy personnel—Leonhardt, a German engineer; Grace, a French engineer; Ed, an Indian Engineer. The world monitoring network is explained. The application of face recognition is mainly managed by the network center of Europol, and the actual method of use is demonstrated. When the Japanese side is connected to the server, the new system developed by Naomi will also be launched. This system is called the “Old and Young Authentication System,” which is to infer the looks of different age groups based on existing photo information. Naomi uses her own childhood photos as a representation. Makino said that this system can help find long-term fugitives and abducted victims, and they are also looking forward to the practical application of this authentication system… but Conan’s serious expression doesn’t change. Leonhardt voices his dislike of a Japanese signing party. Makino said that because of the attack on the German Branch, the Japanese police were invited as a precaution. Leonhardt continued to express his dissatisfaction, and even gets into an argument with Naomi. Ed reminded everyone that it was almost time.

The system is connected and everything proceeds smoothly… but Vermouth and Bourbon infiltrate the Pacific Buoy. The pair remove their diving equipment and change into custodial uniforms.

With the system operating stably, everyone decided to take a break. Naomi asked everyone what they wanted to drink, but Hyōe and the others didn't hear, so Shinichi/Conan ran over to ask. When he came back, he made a gesture to indicate how many cups everyone would like, and asked for iced coffee for himself. With Grace and Shinichi/Conan, Naomi went to get drinks.

When Shinichi/Conan and Grace went back first, Bourbon and Vermouth see Conan. They then follow Naomi into the restroom and incapacitate her.

Everyone returns to the control center, except Naomi, who still does not return after some time. The surveillance footage reveals that when she went to the restroom, two custodians followed her inside. Shinichi/Conan suggests that the pair would be able to handle one person. Everyone continued to check the surveillance until they finally got a hit. When they rushed to the entrance and exit, no one was there. Makino says that there is a filter outside the door, and also that everyone can open the door if they are at the control panel, but if they are not, only he and the four engineers can open the door. Shinichi/Conan wonders where they went.

Vermouth uses Naomi’s necklace USB, and along with Vodka and Hidemi/Kir, sees a photo, titled “Haibara,” showing Shiho’s/Ai’s shocked face. Vodka calls Gin and tells him about this, Gin didn't believe this at first, that Shiho/Sherry died on the Bell Tree Express. Vodka said that Shiho/Sherry was a scientist, that maybe there was something wrong, and that Vodka could send the photo to Gin to confirm. Gin said he would come himself, and ordered Vodka to secure Shiho/Ai first. Vodka said that he didn't know where Shiho/Ai was, but Gin replies that Vodka has “the system.” After hanging up the phone, Vermouth says she would not go along with this, since this was not an order of That person, and that “the system” was used by the BO to eliminate former members. Rei/Bourbon is unwilling to do things that were not in the original plan, and Hidemi/Kir said that her injury is not healed. Vodka said Pinga can go, that Pinga will not listen to Vermouth, but Pinga will listen to That person. Vermouth thinks to herself that Vodka is a fool, because Pinga hates Gin the most.

Back at the Pacific Buoy control center, everyone was shocked when they learned that Naomi was kidnapped. They checked the records of the entrance and exit, but found nothing. Everyone mentioned that a backdoor program may have been installed. Shinichi/Conan realizes that the intrusion of Europol’s German Branch may have been for the purpose of installing a backdoor. The police said that there is still the possibility of accomplices here, and everyone needs to let the police take over and cooperate with the investigation. Jūzō and Miwako arrive to question the engineers separately.

Everyone has dinner at the hotel in the evening. Shiho/Ai asked Shinichi/Conan where he went. Shinichi/Conan deflects the question and whispers to Doctor Agasa that the two of them need to talk in private.

Shinichi/Conan and Doctor Agasa head to a quiet place to talk about the kidnapping of Naomi. Conan suspects that the target of the BO might be Naomi’s authentication system.

Shiho/Ai, having overheard Shinichi’s/Conan’s earlier whispers, interrupts the conversation. Since the BO might be involved, they decide to return home the next day. Shinichi/Conan lends his glasses to Shiho/Ai, who doesn’t understand why he’s giving them to her. Shinichi/Conan said that these were the first pair of glasses made by Doctor Agasa, and she would definitely not be recognized when she wore them. Shinichi/Conan takes Shiho’s/Ai's spare pair of glasses, and Shiho/Ai complains that he was tied up last time. Shinichi/Conan, embarrassed, said that it was a talisman anyway.

Rei/Bourbon calls Shinichi/Conan, but the call doesn’t connect.

In the evening, when Vodka and Pinga are ready to kidnap Shiho/Ai, Gin was already in place, saying that it was fortunate that Shiho/Ai was on Hachijō Island.

Shiho/Ai had drank some alcohol and was going to sleep, but suddenly had an ominous premonition, just as Vodka and Pinga parked their car. She drew the curtains, put on her clothes and prepared to run out, pulling the quilt over Ayumi before leaving… but as soon as the door was opened, Pinga and Vodka were already at the door—she immediately faints and is taken away.

Shinichi/Conan hears the noises and goes out, happening to see the scene where Shiho/Ai is taken, and immediately calls Doctor Agasa to tell him that Shiho/Ai was gone, and said that it might be because her identity has been exposed. Shinichi/Conan wants to go, but he would only be able to get back to the room with the Elastic Suspenders after a direct climb down from the balcony. Ran appears, having heard the noise too. As Shinichi/Conan had finished tying the suspenders, Ran had already leapt out of the balcony and punched the truck, which shocked Vodka and Pinga. Shinichi/Conan realized that there was a sniper in the distance, so he hurriedly rushed to get down there. Ran fought with Pinga, injuring Pinga's neck. Chianti saw Ran getting in the way and is about to snipe her. Shinichi/Conan pushes Ran away to avoid three bullets, one of which shatters one of the truck’s rearview mirrors. Vodka and Pinga manage to drive away. Pinga held their neck and said that they would kill Ran three times over for this. Ran wanted to immediately chase after them—with Chianti still having the drop on them, Shinichi/Conan gets her to calm down by saying there’s a ghost behind her. Ran agrees they shouldn’t act rashly. Shinichi/Conan picks up the broken rearview mirror, and shouts for Ran to go as he kicks the rearview mirror to throw Chanti off.

Shinichi/Conan and Doctor Agasa drive after Vodka and Pinga. Ran tries to wake up Kogorō, but he’s still drunk.

When Vodka and the others tried to stop to give an update to the BO, they realized Doctor Agasa’s car was approaching, and continued to drive their truck away, into the woods.

Shinichi’sConan had figured out the truck’s escape route, and told Doctor Agasa that he’d get out of the car with the skateboard and take another route for an attack at both ends.

Vodka and Pinga react as expected. Hiding behind a car, Shinichi/Conan ambushes the truck. As a result, the truck breaks through the guardrail and over the cliff. Shinichi/Conan and Doctor Agasa watch the car submerge. Shinichi/Conan rides his skateboard down the cliff. Taking a deep breath after reaching the surface of the water, Shinichi/Conan dives down with a watch flashlight in his mouth. He saw the truck, but there was no one there. He returned to the surface of the water and took another breath, shouted twice. A roar made him go down again, but when he saw a submarine, he immediately lost himself in the water. Then it was submerged by the current brought by the submarine, and it was dark in the west. Doctor Agasa goes down to the shore. Seeing Shinichi’s/Conan's skateboard and Shiho’s/Ai's clothes coming up from the water, he collapsed to his knees, crying. Conan vows to rescue Ai.

The kidnapped Shiho/Ai had a dream. She was handcuffed after defying the BO’s orders. With a painful expression on her face, she took out the APTX and swallowed—she underwent the agonizing transformation. She came out of the garbage passage, determined to find Shinichi, At the gate of Doctor Agasa’s house, she saw him collapse stiffly—from behind, Gin trained his gun on her.

She woke up from the dream, and all the clothes on her body had been changed. In front of her was Naomi. She stepped back in surprise when she found the Detective Badge on the bed. Shiho/Ai and Naomi confirmed that they were in a submersible.

Vodka and Hidemi/Kir enter the room. Vodka pointed out that Shiho/Ai was not tied up—he picked up a strap and was about to tie Shiho/Ai up. Hidemi/Kir stopped him, handed a tablet to Vodka, and then went to tie up Shiho/Ai. Hidemi/Kir realized Vodka was distracted, and took the opportunity to tie Shiho’s/Ai’s hands loosely. Vodka handed the authentication photo in front of Naomi, and asked her this meant it meant the woman in the photo and the girl over there were the same person. Naomi doesn’t answer. Vodka leaves the room with Hidemi/Kir.

Shinichi/Conan and Doctor Agasa return to the hotel and find Jūzō and Miwako. Talking about the submarine, the two asked Doctor Agasa if he really saw it. Doctor Agasa said that it was too dark and didn't see it. Shinichi/Conan says emphatically that he really saw it. Jūzō and Miwaka look at each other, and take out a map and ask Shinichi/Conan to identify the submarine they saw. Shinichi/Conan pointed to a location, and Miwako said that there should be surveillance cameras under the jurisdiction of the police, so they should immediately call for monitoring. Doctor Agasa said to himself that he hoped that Shiho/Ai would be fine, so Shinichi/Conan thought of using the Detective Badge to call Shiho/Ai, but was stopped by Doctor Agasa, because the distance was too great.

Shinichi/Conan decided to call Shūichi. After the two discussed it, Shūichi came up with a solution for the submarine.

Shinichi/Conan goes to the hotel roof and calls Ran in Shinichi’s voice. She asked him if he could come, and he said that a child he knew had been kidnapped. After hanging up, Shinichi/Conan took a look at the antidote, and thought to himself that it was a last resort.

Vermouth flies from Hachijō Island to the Philippines. On the way, she shared a message with That person and talked about “the system.”

The next morning, the Detective Boys are told that that Shiho/Ai was ill. The Detective Boys immediately say they’ll go to visit, but are told that Shiho/Ai is already in the hospital. Sonoko leaves Hachijō Island with the Detective Boys, while Ran and Doctor Agasa stay. Jūzō and Miwako come over to ask Shinichi/Conan and the others to leave.

Rei/Bourbon calls Shinichi/Conan to ask if the kidnapped girl was his friend. Shinichi/Conan mentions the submarine. Rei/Bourbon tells him to “drink gin in the afternoon”—the submarine will emerge during a helicopter flight.

Naomi tells Shiho/Ai that she is very similar to Shiho, and that she might be Shiho's daughter. Shiho/Ai says that she does not know someone named Shiho Miyano. Naomi said she was sorry for involving her, and then began to talk about the past. When she was a child in the United States, because there were very few people of Japanese descent around, she always got bullied. Once on the school bus, her classmates bullied her because she didn't have a seat, so Shiho stood up and gave Naomi her seat, and stood next to her. From then on, Shiho replaced her as the target of being bullied, but Naomi didn't have the courage to help Shiho because she was afraid of being bullied again. Later, when she grew up, her intention behind developing the her authentication system was to create a peaceful world without racial discrimination, and she was allowed to connect to the monitoring system because of her participation in the development of facial recognition. When testing after connecting, she used the photos of Shiho when she was a child in the United States—all of them were her, alone in the corner, isolated. She found the grown-up Shiho through surveillance (the image of Shiho shopping with Akemi, etc.).

Because the records after the surveillance had been changed had not yet been produced, Pinga’s cover as Grace is exposed, and Pinga admits to killing Leonhardt. Pinga pushes the others away from the stairs and runs from the gunfire. Ran gives chase.

Ran is found beaten downstairs. Shinichi/Conan instinctively runs over to Ran, but Ran is supported by Hyōe, who advises that she has a habit of leaning to the left after dodging an attack. Shinichi/Conan looks down at his child form, and feels a little disappointed.

Pinga continued to flee. Everyone is sure they’ll find Pinga from the surveillance and use that as the basis for their pursuit, but Shinichi/Conan realized that the surveillance was misleading, so he went to another place to cut Pinga off.

Confronted by Shinichi/Conan, Pinga asks him when he began to doubt Pinga’s cover. Shinichi/Conan said that it was the coffee run when he realized that “Grace” might not be who she claimed to be. Pinga smiles and addresses Shinichi/Conan as Shinichi Kudo, pulling out a photographic comparison. While Shinichi/Conan looked shocked, he did not deny Pinga’s claim. Pinga said that if this information was handed over to the BO, Pinga would ascend the BO’s ranks, and Gin would definitely be eliminated over the survival of Shinichi Kudo. Shinichi/Conan observes that it is very difficult for people who to kill to keep a normal mind, and thus such killers will definitely take abnormal actions… Pinga is different… Pinga is too used to death. Shinichi/Conan says that while Pinga and Gin are very similar, Gin does not make such mistakes—Pinga is nothing compared to Gin. Pinga responds by beating Shinichi/Conan violently, declaring such a claim is sickening. Before Pinga can do any permanent damage, Miwako arrives on the scene. Shinichi/Conan manages to touch Pinga's phone before being thrown away. As Pinga flees, Miwako runs to Shinichi’s/Conan's side to check on him. Shinichi/Conan apologizes to her for contradicting her earlier, and she said it was okay, apologizing for not believing him earlier.

Pinga came to the place where Bourbon and Vermouth snuck in, put on the diving equipment and prepared to escape.

On the submarine, Vodka showed Gin the photos that matched Shiho’s/Sherry’s certification, which he found from all over the world after using Naomi’s authentication system, and said it was sent. Over the phone, Vermouth interjects—because the name of the photo on the USB said “test,” she searched again with “the system” just in case, and from the result, it seems that Naomi’s authentication is a useless system. At the same time, both Rum and Rei/Bourbon also received reports, with Rum saying that it seems the last resort would be used. Originally, Rum wanted to use “the system” to find Renya Karasuma, who hadn't been seen for a long time, but now it seems that such efforts will prove useless. Gin smiles and says they’ll sink the garbage system and Pacific Buoy to the bottom of the sea together.

After Pinga’s escape, Shinichi/Conan ran outside, thinking in his heart that he must stop this. Rei/Bourbon calls Shinichi/Conan and tells him the BO is about to attack. Shinichi/Conan said this called for everyone to evacuate. Rei/Bourbon replied that the arrangements had been made. Hyōe commanded the general staff to retreat. Shūichi also joins in on the strategy meeting.

    Shūichi:

“Boy, I have a weapon from the U.S. Military that can destroy submarines.

    […]

Rei, eliminating a threat to Japan is also one of the responsibilities of the U.S. Military stationed in Japan.”

    Rei/Bourbon:

“The number one sharpshooter in the Organization… he must be able to do it… Rye.”

    Shūichi:

    “That’s what I planned… Bourbon.”

Shinichi/Conan went outside with Doctor Agasa and found the underwater equipment to sneak in. According to the range of the explosion in the sea, they figured out the location.

Gin ordered the launch of torpedoes, causing the Pacific Buoy to deploy a scrambler.

Shinichi/Conan dived down and found the submarine, telling Shūichi the approximate location, but the range was too large, so Shinichi/Conan suggested to use a firework ball to illuminate the location.

The Pacific Buoy personnel announced that the defense system had been hacked, and all Makino can do is to order the entire staff to withdraw. Without the jammer, the torpedo directly hits the Pacific Buoy. Everyone hurries to evacuate. Hyōe looked at the fire and thought to himself… this system could be made use of, but instead, it was destroyed. Could it be that there was some reason why the Pacific Buoy was attacked, why it had to be destroyed?

Pinga was in the sea and Gin called and said that the last traces had been wiped clean. Gin told him they should meet up quickly, that he had something to show Pinga.

The submarine was about to leave, and Shinichi/Conan had finished setting up the Ball Dispensing Belt. The submarine could not shoot until the submarine reached the top. The current from the submarine’s propeller swept away Shinichi’s/Conan’s small underwater motorcycle and shredded it. The oxygen mask was swept away, as well. When his hand was about to go numb, the submarine came to the top. Shincihi/Conan launched the ball, and the whole sea was illuminated by countless fireworks. Shūichi fired rockets from the helicopter to penetrate the Black Iron Submarine. The engine was damaged and the vessel could no longer be used.

Shiho/Ai found Shinichi’s/Conan's glasses, stuffed them in her pocket and continued to dive. Seeing the unconscious Shinichi/Conan, she first inhaled two breaths and exhaled on him, but the air slipped away. Panicked, she inhaled again and exhaled deeply—this time it didn't leak directly. After Shinichi/Conan choked on a big mouthful of water, Shiho/Ai immediately stuffed the small oxygen tank into his mouth. He took a few breaths before opening his eyes and seeing Shiho/Ai, thinking that this time things were really dangerous, and she’d saved him. Then he gave the oxygen tank to Shiho/Ai and asked her to inhale it twice, then pointed to the top with his finger, signaling to float up slowly, otherwise they would suffer from decompression sickness. While the two were floating up, Shincihi/Conan gave her the oxygen tank again, but Shiho/Ai didn't take it.

    Shiho/Ai:

(I have been exposed to the Organization now…

If I go back, I will hurt you…

The time I can be with you now is the last…

There is no place for me…

    Goodbye, Conan Edogawa…)

Shinichi/Conan pulled her along and stuffed the hydrogen gas cylinder into her mouth, grinning.

    Shinichi/Conan:

(Why’re you making such an expression?

I told you I’ll definitely find a way!)

    Shiho/Ai:

(Why can you always, always, always have that expression?

Although you probably don't know… we kissed just now...)

The two make it out to the surface of the water.

Pinga came to the diving torpedo tube, and sent a message to Gin to let them in, but Gin was nowhere to be found. Pinga realized that the submarine would be scrapped, and that they had been abandoned. The diving tank showed a countdown.

Hidemi/Kir checked and asked if Pinga should be notified—Gin smiled and said no.

As Shinichi/Conan and Shiho/Ai climbed up outside the Pacific Buoy, the underwater submarine exploded—Pinga was engulfed as a huge water splash rose up. Shinichi/Conan kicked the blown parts at the water splash, and after breaking up the water splash, he fell to the ground exhausted.

Ran and Doctor Agasa’s boat came up. Shinichi/Conan got up and said in relief to Shiho/Ai that they were saved, only to see she was still lying on the ground. After he rushed over, he thought that she was suffering from decompression sickness. He tried to raise her upper body to give her CPR/artificial respiration, but she raised her hand to stop him, and put his glasses on his lap. Ran got off the boat and rushed to Shiho’s/Ai’s side in a panic, raising Shiho’s/Ai’s upper body to give her CPR/artificial respiration. Shiho/Ai took this opportunity to kiss Ran. Ran and Shinichi/Conan looked at each other in shock. Shinichi/Conan smoothed things over in embarrassment and said that Shiho/Ai was probably just confused.

Everyone came back from Hachijō Island, and the Detective Boys came to greet them. Naomi’s father, who had been shot, had regained consciousness. The idea of rebuilding the Pacific Buoy at Hachijō Island had been given up. The decision had been made for Interpol’s facilities to be built in countries other than Japan.

Shiho/Ai asks Naomi where she’ll go, and Naomi says she couldn’t say. But Naomi is grateful for Shiho/Ai asking. Before leaving, Naomi looked back meaningfully at Shiho/Ai.

    Naomi:

(It’s great to see you, Shiho…)

Shiho/Ai looked at Naomi and thought of the time when they were children.

Shinichi/Conan mused behind Shiho’s/Ai’s back, thinking Shiho/Ai has no idea that Vermouth went around pretending to be her. Even the old lady Shiho/Ai had given the coupon to had been Vermouth in disguise. Shinichi/Conan doesn’t understand why Vermouth did all this.

    Vermouth:

(Why should I simply help you? It’s up to you to solve this puzzle, Silver Bullet…)

    Synopsis

    Spoiler

The opening page features Shinichi/Conan with the image of the PTON cracked mirror behind him.

In the present, Chianti is still waiting at her sniping position. Rum speaks with her, before he has a flashback to 17 years ago.

Rum gives Kōji the APTX/Silver Bullet and Rum and the BO goons depart. Kōji, dying, pulls out the PUT ON MASCARA mirror.

Hyōe arrives in the hallway as Rum and the BO goons quickly leave and board the elevator... except for a lone BO goon, who wipes the door with a handkerchief. Hyōe knocks him out after the BO goon pulls a gun and enters the room.

Kōji is found by Hyōe in the bathroom.

Rachel/Rumi awakens, and is met by Hyōe. He shows her where Kōji is, and she immediately assumes Hyōe killed Kōji. She quickly puts him on the ground, but Hyōe's phone falls out of his pocket, with the screen showing Amanda's corpse. Sobbing and clutching the phone, Rachel/Rumi is knocked out by Hyōe.

In a car outside the hotel, Rum, about to leave, realizes exactly what Kōji did to conceal Rachel/Rumi from him, and he and the BO goons rush back to the room, passing by Hyōe, who's rolling a large luggage case. Rum praises Kōji for outwitting him... he's about to realize that the bathroom is such a mess because Kōji made a dying message, when the BO goons find the BO goon Hyōe knocked out. Rum realizes the man they passed with the case was Hyōe, transporting Rachel/Rumi, and orders the BO goons after Hyōe.

Rum and the BO goons chase Hyōe, and as he tries to outrun them, he slams into a truck. Rum orders the BO goons to flee, since the area is too visible for them to finish off Hyōe and Rachel/Rumi. As Hyōe is taken into an ambulance on a stretcher, the right side of his face covered in bandages, he asks the paramedic where Rachel/Rumi is... the paramedic says Hyōe was the only one in the car. As he loses consciousness, Hyōe thinks that Rachel/Rumi must have run away.

In the present, Hyōe continues his conversation with Shinichi/Conan.

As Shiho/Ai, the DBs, Dr. Agasa and Sumiko are still at the restaurant, Rachel/Rumi, the hood of her jacket up as she's pelted by the rain, has an intense look in her eye.

No break next week—we can expect 1,109 spoilers at around this time next week.
