  1. Is your alternate Bourbon arc fanfic dead? If so, it's a shame, but I suppose it was inevitable. -_-

Might as well ask now, before you go of to... say, what manga has taken DC's place, in your mind (if there is one)?

  2. I've been making a list of Rum related posts as I've gone through the Rum arc to see my theory progress and it's super obvious your ideas have had the most influence over my thinking. It's pretty amazing how you'd hit me with something and then after initial resistance I'd come around to it. I'd love to see a super post summarizing your current thoughts on everything.

I agree that the 7 year gap is a pretty big issue—it's yet another case of too little info currently available to us—and I also agree that another person could've replaced the real Hyoue. Still, if the real Hyoue's been replaced, where is the real Hyoue? Still in a coma, elsewhere?

Yeah, for Kanenori, I might change my opinion from him being a high-ranking BO member to him being someone who just has a personal connection to Rei/Toru, depending on what we get from him in the next case he's in. I'm unsure about him, too, because I just don't know which mislead Gosho's gonna go with—is Gosho trying for a mislead, in terms of a BO member's identity (Kanenori turning out to be a BO member, but not Rum), or an alignment mislead (Kanenori turning out to be neither Rum nor a BO member)?

I'm unsure about Muga, too—I'm still wondering if he and Momiji have a role to play beyond interfering with HeijixKazuha. I think it'd be a waste for Gosho to have them play only that role—just as much of a waste as him ultimately having Sakurako play no role in the plot.

As for me thinking Rumi is Koji's girlfriend rather than his sister—there's no reason a sister wouldn't be more or less driven over a sibling's death (as far as Rumi has clearly been driven) than a girlfriend would be over a lover's death. I guess some would say that my guess is, in fact, another example of the incorrect perception that romantic love has more of an impact than familial love. So maybe I should leave whether she's his girlfriend or sister alone until we actually get exposition/flashback from Rumi that answers that question directly.

Here's my most recent thoughts from the "Fit the pieces together" thread on DCTP (posted January 6th, last updated today), that lists the options I've thought of for who certain characters are or are not.

      Hyoue
      1A. Tsutomu in disguise
1AA. Real/Pre-Coma Hyoue was a person of authority at the NPA—so, now, Tsutomu is Rei's/Toru's boss at the Security Bureau
1AB. Real/Pre-Coma Hyoue was Rum—so, now, Tsutomu is Rum
1B. Rei's/Toru's boss at the Security Bureau
      2. Rum... but only if he doesn't remember what Shiho/Sherry looked like

      Rumi
      1. Asaka (On top of being Amanda's bodyguard, she had a personal connection to Koji (I think that it's more likely that they were lovers rather than family members, though)—she witnessed the double-murder, escaped, and, now, is out for revenge against Rum—she's now testing Shinichi/Conan to see if he can help her)
      2. Intelligence Agent
2A. NPA Security Bureau / MPD PSB
      2B. Other (FBI, CIA, etc.)
      3. BO member
3A. Codenamed member (Rum or not)
      3B. Non-codenamed member

      Kanenori
      1. Codenamed BO member
1A. Not Rum – This, I think, is the reason for Gosho making him a Rum suspect; Gosho wants us to think Kanenori is Rum so people won't see the twist coming, the twist that he is a BO member... but he's not Rum.
      1AA. A high-ranked BO member
      1AB. Not a high-ranked BO member
1B. Rum – He's more likely to be Rum than, say, Sakurako or Rumi, but I think it's far more likely he'll turn out to be a Rum red herring.
      2. Intelligence Agent
2A. NPA Security Bureau / MPD PSB
      2B. Other (FBI, CIA, etc.)
      3. Connected to plot-relevant character

      Uploader
      1. Rumi
      2. Other
      2A. Tsutomu

      Tsutomu
      1. Alive
      1A. Disguised as Hyoue
      1B. Disguised as another character
      1C. In hiding
      1CA. Shrunk due to APTX?
1D. Is Rum (and has had that codename—and has been a BO member—for over 17 years)
      2. Dead

      Muga
      1. BO

      1A. Rum
      1B. Not Rum
1BA. Not High-Ranked (But still codenamed)
      2. Literally just Momiji's butler
      3A. Intelligence Agent
      3AA. FBI, CIA, etc.

      Asaka
      1. Rumi
      2. Rum
      3. Other

      Who Rum is not
      Rum ≠ Mary
      Rum ≠ Sakurako
      Rum ≠ Rumi
      Rum ≠ Kiyonaga

      Rum ≠ Momose

      Rum ≠ Ryujiro Uematsu

      Unsure
Tsutomu (I just can't be as sure about him not being Rum—as in, him being Rum all along, as far back as 17 years ago—as sure as I am about Rumi, Sakurako or Kiyonaga not being Rum... and, of course, if Real/Pre-Coma Hyoue was Rum, Tsutomu/Post-Coma Hyoue can be Rum, that way, too. Ultimately, my bet's on the latter option, in terms of him being Rum, but I can't yet completely discount the chance that he was Rum all along... but that option is nowhere near my first choice)
Asaka (This is really a question of whether Rum was able to become Amanda's bodyguard, or whether Rum simply came to the room and overpowered the bodyguard—my bet, though, is that Rumi is more likely to turn out to be Asaka than Rum)

      Who Rum might just be
Kanenori; Hyoue (whether Tsutomu has replaced him or not) – Least likely
Muga – For me, it's now a 50% chance that he's Rum, and a 50% chance that he's not—it could go either way (you can thank MeitanteixX for this)
Taka'aki; Heizo; Chikara Katsumasa – Most likely (though I must note that, according to Chek's vision tests, so far, Taka'aki is not hiding an artificial eye—therefore, he's gets knocked down a peg, compared to the other two most likely suspects, in my book)

Awaiting your response so we can get a discussion/debate/conversation going! ^_^ (and, also, any questions you may have, if you feel this list/post (and/or specific parts of this list/post) requires clarification or explanation—that is, if anything is unclear or vague)

      "I think you overreacted"

Not coming off like I'm overreacting is something I, personally, have to work on—I can tell you that's absolutely the case... but just to let you know, your use of the word "perilous" was why I responded in a more direct manner than I would have, otherwise.

"I was saying that discounting the vanilla theory (Asaka = Rum) because it is simple and no-twist before the evidence has come in is a bad habit in my experience."

It's just not my primary theory, right now (as of File 971). Once we get more info about the case in question and Asaka, I might swing towards the Asaka = Rum theory, and IT will become my primary theory, depending on the info we get (and this examination of the info we have will continue until the truth is ultimately revealed). Trust me, I'm not discounting it—if it came off like that, then that's another thing I'll need to work on.

And one more thing—he makes up his own facts. He just spews BS, and has no idea how governance in this country actually works.

Those who support him are blinded by cynicism and/or anger. Candidates like him are exactly why I emphasize skepticism over cynicism. Ironically, those who go on about how everything sucks are exhibiting their own kind of naiveté, but they then accuse people like me of naiveté. ...to do. The Republicans created this monster by appealing to those who left the Democratic Party due to Civil Rights in the 60s, and clothing it in certain rhetoric. Now, though, that base wants payback and power, so here's a presumptive nominee with no dog-whistle words. He just says what the GOP base utterly agrees with. The crows really have come home to roost, and some Republicans are left in a damned-if-I-do, damned-if-I-don't-situation.

Donald Trump is a chauvinistic narcissist, and is, actually, part of the establishment and the elite that his anti-establishment supporters despise, but they overlook it because of what awful things he says about anyone who isn't a white Christian male, and because he's sticking his fingers in the eyes of the GOP leaders, who his supporters—the GOP base—think have failed them, time and time again.
