Phew, it's not just me. I mean, American voice overs sound okay in Toy Story or something, but it's really out of place when it comes to dynamics. Maybe it's our habit of making the 'o' sound with the w at the end or something. Can't quite place my finger at it...

Late to the convo, but if you mean "great" as in mainstream and newsworthy in places not called Japan, then SnK no doubt. An anime or manga hasn't hit the west so hard since Death Note. But if you mean really good but under-appreciated outside of Japan I'd have to say the currently airing Fate/stay night: Unlimited Blade Works.
