It's still unbelievable how long Gosho managed to keep this up.

I made a string of complaints on the "Flaws, contradictions, and plotholes in Detective Conan" topic if you haven't seen it yet. Many of the cases these days are also too elaborate to follow--Vampire Mansion and Inubushi Castle cases being prime examples.

The Desperate Revival also got to me. It's too bad Gosho doesn't elaborate on these kinds of arcs later in the series. They're pretty much irrelevant to DC's plot at this point--which is a shame considering how hard of an impact it seemed to have given some people.

No, I'm saying that people are basing themselves off of general characteristics of these characters--complex or not.

I'm too lazy to go on a full-out rant on this since I'd probably write out an entire essay explaining every little detail I nitpick on. OK, my tl;dr response: People are complex creatures, and their tendencies to ignore that entirely and describe themselves using completely general characteristics based off of other characters (fictional or not) end up as completely unreliable comparisons.

That was also wayy before the introductions of Sera and Bourbon. I don't think anyone from back in 1994 actively reads/watches the series anymore.

Which is exactly the problem. People choose their "counterparts" based on their bias. I'm not sure why this irks me so much, but I've seen wayyy too many "I'm just like Shinichi! I'm super smart and I also play the violin!" to let these kinds of things slide anymore. Just because someone has a few things in common with a character doesn't make him/her their counterpart. For all I know, my counterpart could be Genta because I also like eating.

I'm willing to bet that the series is going to run for at least another couple years before it ends.

She also tends to be more liked than Korn, hence the bias. "I do not easily trust people and I get suspicious." Gin also fits that description fairly well, does he not?

If Gosho's health problems were that serious, he would have ended the series long ago. Gotta give him credit for keeping the series alive though. Over 20 years worth of manga takes quite the commitment.

I find it somewhat difficult associating someone with a fictional counterpart. It's like when people take one of those "which character are you?" quizzes and say "wao! such accurate! just leik me!" Those quizzes are merely surface level and are by no means accurate to the point. In fact, most tend to be biased when choosing their "counterpart." Korn is just as reserved as Haibara, if not more. But no one wants to be associated with him.

This is the kinda stuff that bothers me in DC. They fail to recognize that there can always be another cause--logical or not--that ends up being the explanation.
