  1. I would agree, if only at least sometimes Conan managed to win, which is only possible if he actually PREVENTED Kid from committing the theft by catching him, maybe even turning him to the police (later he can escape). If Kid always manages to commit the theft, check the item and return it, then it means he has won, since he has nothing more to do there and doesn't care anymore whether his disguise will be exposed or not. So, I think the Conan vs Kid cases would be interesting only if at least sometimes (better if half the cases) Conan won over Kid and disrupted his plans. If we always know Kid will win, it seems like Conan is just wasting time there, since nothing is accomplished for him. Not even the solution to the disguise mystery is really an accomplishment because, after stealing and returning the item, Kid doesn't care anymore whether Conan manages to guess who he was disguised as, or whether he doesn't guess.....

  2. I agree about the organization, would also like to add that they aren't presented as being a real menace, considering all the double-crossers they have among the members we know about. Among the members still loyal to the organization, only Gin is a seriously dangerous "bad guy". Gosho should add more members that don't work secretly for semobody outside the organization and at the sime time have the same qualities as Gin or Vermouth. For now, the whole point of Conan keeping from others the existence of the organization seems to have lost any sense: if Ran, Kogoro or whoever else discovered it, the few organization members (that are not undercover agents) would be in more danger themselves rather than Conan's friends: Ran and Kogoro would kick them to death and even the Detective Boys would be able to deal with somebody like Vodka

  3. 1) Vodka without the glasses

    2) CONCLUSIVE (not open) endings to ALL the romance stories

    3) Eri and Kogoro becoming a family again

    4) Conan catching Kaito Kid (he can well escape from jail later, I just want to see him handcuffed for once)

    5) Genta accidentally disarming a criminal

    6) The Detective Boys managing to solve a case without Conan's help (they did this once, but it was a filler episode, not based on manga)

    7) Anokata's execution after the trial      (Well, just joking, I am not that bloodthirsty  :P )

  4. I can't imagine him cutting ties with the FBI. I can't help but feel like somewhere inside of him he enjoys hunting down global criminal syndicates and as soon as the BO is gone there will be another and he will be there chasing them. Either way i don't see a possible way for him to go back to being a normal teenager.

He doesn't need someone to wait for him, he needs someone fighting alongside him and Ran could never do that, atleast not at a BO level.

To Shinichi, Ran will never come first.

Would only like to comment on these specific 3 quotes:

We will never know until the ending about how will those characters change. Ran may well start being involved in the Black Organization story later, at the final stage and, we don't know how good she would be in fighting alongside Shinichi. Maybe, better than people think.

Also, who knows, it's not a sure thing he will start being focused on global mafias, maybe he WILL return to investigate "normal" murders. A life of a global anti-mafia fighter is tough, we don't know whether he will make such an extreme decision, as to dedicate HIS WHOLE LIFE to working with the FBI.

Also, since Shinichi wouldn't probably be the same after the story ends, as you say, how do we know he won't change for the better due to the experience and won't start appreciating other things and people (Ran including) more than before, since he will be more experienced and serious now, not just a somehow careless teenager?

  5. I only hope they aren't young...At least, their youth should be fake in my opinion. I can't see bosses of such a big organization to have a lack of experience that comes only with age and a long time of withstanding dangers, such as feuds and eliminations of gangland rivals.

  6. I don't know. Some people say she is too "flat" and "it's annoying she is afraid of ghosts" but I personally don't understand how can such trifle things make seriously HATE a character. I personally can only hate characters who have done something evil, and even in that case, not always. Ran surely has done nothing evil. Theoretically, I could understand why some people wouldn't be interested in her character and feel indifferent, but not the hatred. Only the fact she is considered sometimes an obstacle for Ai to be Shinichi's romantic partner can partially explain the level of hostility, but then even though I support ShinRan and Ran is one of my favorite characters, but I don't hate Ai.

  7. Kindaichi is the weakest in my opinion with the flat characters being the number one problem, but it is also hurt by relatively low mystery variety, lack of a greater arc, and the mystery presentation style which involves way more panel hunting.

I agree about the lack of a greater arc, but I think from a purely "mystery" point of view it's better than the others because the murderers are more difficult to figure out and we have more chance to suspect the wrong character. I think that's the main point in a detective mystery.

  8. Also, in the epilogue of the episode about the attempted murder on Matsumoto's daughter, we are shown a photo of Matsumoto at his daughter's wedding 3 YEARS LATER. I think it's unlikely Conan will take so long to destroy the organization, by then (3 years later) the boss should theoretically be either dead, in prison or maybe on the run, but not in open view at a wedding. I think I read somewhere Gosho said Conan will take no more than 1 year (of the manga time, not the real time where it's already decades) to take them out, but who knows, maybe it was false information, I don't remember where exactly I read it, unfortunately...

  9. What if Haibara find lost relatives?there won't be any reason to stay as Haibara Ai...

Really I don't get people who want Ai to stay as a child and living in a lie, while she could easily build a new life with her real identity once the BO is destroyed...

and I agree with what Zerathus said...

Looking at how Yukiko and Yusaku are fine with Shinichi being a child again, I imagine so could be Ai's lost relatives  :)

But it's not like I really want her to necessarily stay a child, I she doesn't it's ok anyway. It's probably because of my personal nostalgia of childhood and the lack of possibility of experiencing it again. But I don't know whether Ai wants to stay as a child or retun adult, Gosho hasn't said that yet I think.

  10. And I still don't like the idea of her staying as a child. At all.

But why? I mean, fans who don't like the idea usually say it would be like "running" from destiny/life, but who would blame her for wanting to start from the beginning after everything she has suffered? I mean, requesting her to stand up to everything and face reality etc even after the black organization matter will be over, this would be too much for somebody who has suffered imo. Just being curious about your opinion.

  11. Which is unfortunate because for once I would like to see something else than childhood friends becoming a couple ( Heiji X Kazuha / Kaito X Aoko, do we really need 3 childhood pairs?)

I definitely do. Even 3 aren't enough imo, I stopped appreciating non-childhood-friend romances long ago.

Okay scenario: Haibara either dies or stays single

If you like Ai's character, how can you be okay with her dying???

Worst scenario: Haibara stays a child and ends up with Mitsuhiko

What if she stays a child but DOESN'T end up with Mitsuhiko?

  12. It might sound weird, but the two  characters that I feel sorry for are :-

I don't think it's weird at all, especially about Seiji; for some reason Gosho represents quite a lot of murderers in such a way that it would be weird NOT to feel sorry for them. Don't know why he follows this pattern, but Gosho always seems to carefully avoid introducing killers who act because of some evil/selfish motive like greed, thirst for power etc. Usually they act out of despair for private justice and I think wouldn't even commit the crimes in most cases if the police did their job and punished the original perpetrators. I really can't help but feel that it's the "victims" who are the real villains of the stories, not the murderers Conan catches (not really in Tatsuya's case though, I agree about him too). That's even if I don't say for the 10000000th time how much I am pissed at Conan for not condemning the victims' actions for provoking these revenge "chain reactions". Reading morals like he often does to people like those is like kicking a wounded person laying on the ground imo.

  13. Lol ! Right after I saw your username while scrolling down I thought to myself, "Yeah he's going to mention how much he likes the childhood romance plot"

And what's wrong with that? Everybody has a thing they like the most. I don't mock you for being a Ai x Conan fan at least.

  14. I agree he could have developed better the pairings he already has introduced, rather than introducing so many new ones. One one hand, I am a big fan of childhood friend romances (the only kind of romance that I really adore), so if there are more of them, the better (also because childhood friends tend to lose to romantic rivals in anime, DC is a pleasant exception), but on the other hand the excessive quantity can diminish the quality unfortunately. Even though I like almost all the pairings in DC, the only ones Gosho seems to pay attention to are Shinichi x Ran and Sato x Takagi.

  15. Out of curiosity, how did you react when Akai died?

I was nervous and wanted to strangle Hidemi if I remember well, but then calmed down after spoiling myself about him not being really dead. Or maybe I did accidentally read the spoiler even before watching this episode, I don't remember. I happened to accidentally spoil a lot of things for myself in the series years ago, now I try to be more careful.

  16. -legitimately kill off a main character for once

Better not, for me at least, I got too used to them all, would be a nervous breakdown.

-fire whoever's writing the Anime Original episodes, and burn the fillers to the ground while we're at it

Not all of them are that bad. The manga episodes have become boring and too similar to one another too.

  17. I imagine they would completely take advantage of their power and give us a horrible ending involving Kaito, Heiji and Akai working together and Ran getting saved by Conan in the last minute while at the same time confessing her love to him.

But this wouldn't be the worst ending imo. The worst would be if they killed off the main characters or started exploiting harems/love triangles like Shinichi-Ran-Shiho, probably without even ever ending the story.

But I agree with you it would be really bad if he rushed things and doesn't give us enough answers. I really hate cliff-hangers (can't decide what's worse: a tragic ending or a cliff-hanger; before you ask, I can't stand tragic endings because have already read WAY TOO MANY of them in fiction already, I am full of them for the rest of my life  :) )

  18. If (hopefully this won't be the case) Gosho doesn't finish the manga: for example, he dies a year earlier than the year he plans to publish the final chapter; even many, many years after today, what do you think will happen then? Is there already a written ending with a contract that binds his colleagues to publish it exactly as it is or could it be that, since Gosho won't be around anymore, they change the ending and do whatever they want to the story (maybe ruining it completely)? I mean, do they HAVE TO respect his wishes posthumously according to the business agreement or are they free to ruin the story as much as they want, once the author dies? What do you think?

  19. Hopefully he will find out. To me the most important thing is that Ran should know that Conan is Shinichi, but I personally would like others to know the truth too by the end. It would be sad if for example the Detective Boys thought their friend Conan just "disappeared" for no reason when he turns back to Shinichi.

  20. I think I would have had Heiji remain more of a rival, and maybe not have included Kazuha at all. I think it would have been interesting to have a sort of Hakuba-like rival that is trouble for Shinichi both romantically and during a case. Unlike Magic Kaito where Hakuba with Aoko basically has no chance because Kaito is always around, Ran is isolated from Shinichi. It would be interesting to have a Hakuba-like Heiji offering Ran genuine emotional support while Shinichi is "away" and then falling in love with her. That would have had the potential for a real dramatic conflict and showdown, especially if altHeiji found out Conan was Shinichi and still decided to bypass him to try to win Ran's heart anyway.

I disagree. I like Shinichi and Heiji's friendship, and as for a potential love triangle involving Ran... we already had Eisuke, thankfully he is gone now (he wasn't really that bad, but his crush on Ran was annoying imo). To be honest, I do so much prefer suspense NOT based around love triangles.

  21. Just like Conan doesn't trust Ran enough to let her know his secret ? The mess with the BO is complicated, being 'besties' doesn't automatically ensure that she will tell him everything, maybe she isn't revealing them because of some complicated reason that we don't know about, not because she doesn't consider Conan a friend (do you really think Ai & Conan aren't friends ? :l).

I never said Shiho 'should' be with Shinichi. I was just talking about how ShinRan rarely have an equal conversation and you throw a fit for some other topic. Ran & Shin aren't opposites btw.

I understand what you are saying, maybe she does have a reason, and by talking about "opposites" I only meant that since even "opposites" can be mutually attracted, then Shinichi and Ran can be too, not that THEY are necessarily opposites.

And I am not saying Ai and Conan aren't friends, I just made a grotesque exaggeration similar to the one you made when saying Shinichi and Ran can't have a proper conversation.

By the way, I like the ones you call "mushy moments". For people in love, they are normal. What are you calling "chemistry" then, if you are dismissing the Shinchi x Ran romantic moments as "mushy" and not part of a proper conversation?

    • Upvote 2

  22. They haven't had one. All of their 'conversations' so far in the series have literally mostly been their mushy moments, fights, or where Shinichi is rambling about his cases or showing off his detective side (The Aquarium case), they rarely have a conversation as equals and can't imagine them having one, because they lack good chemistry and have nothing in common, the only reason they even hung out together since their childhood was because 1)They didn't have many good friends. 2)Shinichi liked Ran. Even in their flashback episodes you can really deduct how most of their interaction in their childhood went, it's just Shinichi leading their little adventures and Ran is simply tagging along with him for some reason.

You are exaggerating the negative aspects of the Shinichi x Ran relationship and deliberately ignoring the positive ones. The Conan x Ai interaction isn't better than theirs: Ai doesn't even trust Conan enough to tell him everything she knows about the Black Organization. Without complete trust, you can't even talk about a proper friendship, much less about an alleged/supposed "chemistry" you are continuously mentioning. Just because Shinichi and Shiho have both a "genius" intelligence, doesn't mean their are "soulmates". You may think that Shiho is more "compatible" with Shinichi than Ran, but so what? It's Ran Shinchi loves. Can you produce any evidence or hint that Shinichi loves Shiho more than Ran, or that he loves her at all?

Separating two people who have been together and loved each other for that long, who became a part of each other's lives a long time ago, just because you think another girl is more "suitable", would be cruel like cutting off a person's leg or arm and replacing it with a fake one.

    To sum it up:

    Shinichi loves Ran

    Ran loves Shinichi

Shiho (maybe, maybe not) loves Shinichi

    Shinichi doesn't love Shiho

Why on earth should the conclusion to this be that Shinichi should be with Shiho and not Ran? Just because they are more "scientifically compatible"? Sorry, but this isn't a droid factory, we are talking about people's feelings (even though these are fictional people), and in human feelings it's often the opposites that mutually attract.

  23. Like I said, they both can barely hold a proper conversation, I doubt Shinichi got to know too much about her beliefs or personality.

Why have you got the impression they can barely hold a proper conversation? That's an exaggeration imo. Just because their relationship is in a tense situation because Shinichi is "absent" and Ran is so nervous, doesn't mean they didn't communicate in normal circumstances. And it's impossible Shinichi doesn't know about her personality, they have grown up together after all.
