It's been quite a while since I've been on here but I was overcome with a sudden urge to revisit. I'm slightly embarrassed at such a childish username and past posts I have made. It's midnight and I'm sitting at my desk as I stumble across some videos in my recommended of dc openings. I'd say it's been a good 6 years since I've listened to them but I clicked anyway. Immediately, a wave of nostalgia washed over me. Its fascinating how songs seem to capture a period of time within it, and as one listens to it again they are able to relive every moment of that period. The past few days I have been overwhelmed with stress with upcoming exams, yet this seemed to be the only thing that has gotten me to calm down. I'm undoubtedly much younger than most people on this forum, if still active, and it's crazy to think that such a deserted site used to be the bustling center of many mystery fans. This nostalgia is so painfully bittersweet even as it reminds me of old times; a time where I had so much love for every single character, where I met so many people online. I'm not sure where I'm going with this, but I'm grateful to have stopped by.

To me it seems that the younger brother is planning to use the bombs to kill the three men, most likely because he blames them for his brother's death.
  5. 2 points
I'm don't know if the brother killed the manager of the farm. But I do think that he was the one who put him in the bed. The corpse was lying on the bed under a cover with his eyes closed. But since he was strangle and the bed seems to be placed in a corner, I think it's unlikely that he was strangled while lying down in it. The fact that he was placed in bed after his death suggests that someone showed him some last respect. And that would most likely be the younger brother. It's possible that the manager comitted suicide by hanging and his brother found him, got him down and placed him in the bed.

I felt we needed a thread for discussion of suspicious and recurring arc characters like Hyoue Kuroda, Wakasa Rumi, Sakurako Yonehara and others so we have a place to talk about them outside of their intro chapters and the Rum thread. I figured there might be more continuous discussion if I lumped all the suspicious arc characters into one thread rather than give each one a separate thread. Secret spies? Enemies of the Organization? Hidden backstories? False identities? Awesome? Stupid? Please post theories and comments about these characters here!

I wanted to discuss this with someone for a while now, Furuya Rei is a good character who loves is country and ready to sacrifice his life for anyone who needs help and he does his best to provide information about the BO to the secret police department he works at, but he was ready to hand in Akai Shuuchi to the organisation he even told Vermouth about Conan's plan and it's all due to Vermouth being too scared to believe that Akai is alive and luck that the black organisation didn't know about Akai's fake death. Akai is known as the Silver bullet in the organisation and everyone of the BO code-named members know about him and is scared of him (except Gin) even the BO's boss and yet Rei was going to hand him over to the black organisation.

I'm not a theory person myself, but I have noticed a few things that I haven't seen adressed on any theory so far, I guess because they are all "recent" (from the last two years). If you know any theory that includes this, please tell me. I was thinking "What was the point of Gosho showing us Asaka's photo in the webpage?". He could've pulled a Hagiwara and not drawn them. So I think the purpose of Asaka's photo in which you can't see anything but the hand is precisely that you can see the hand. Looking at that hand, I find it way too similar to the photo of "Kohji's" hand, the one with the scissors marks and the weird mark in the centre. That photo shows a suit, similar to the one Asaka was wearing. On the other hand, all Kuroda, Rumi, Mary, Yumi and Amuro have "visualized" Haneda collapsed with a dark clothing that doesn't reach anywhere near his hand. A hand that, btw, has the scissor marks but not the mark in the palm. So, some things that could have happened are: The one who died was really Asaka, not Kohji, and police colabored to hide this fact, as the image Amuro had in his PSB training is also the "suit hand". This could also mean the uploader has access to police files. In this case Kohji would be alive, presumably under police protection or something similar. He could be Kuroda for all we know. The one who died was Haneda, who was wearing Asaka's suit or a similar one, and the images everyone think up are a fake that never happened. This would mean no one of the people underlined above were actually at the crime scene and are just reconstructing the crime which the info they know, that being how Kohji looked like in his shogi clothes, that he grabbed scissors and he had injuries. (I find this one a bit unlikely due to Rumi's flashbacks in the Edible Plants case) The one who died was Haneda, who had changed into Asaka's suit or a similar one, and the images everyone think up have happened and form part of a police report or news or something Conan hasn't seen yet. In that case, the timeline of the case would be: Haneda wearing shogi clothes gets the scissors, gets beaten up and collapses on the floor with blood coming out of his mouth. That's the picture everyone thinks. He isn't dead yet though; he changes into a suit, gets somehow the mark in the center of the palm and finally dies. This is what the police find hence the photo in Amuro's training. Opinions?

If Haneda Kohji's family was wealthy, that does open up the possibility that he was the main target or maybe both he and Amanda were the chosen targets. Karasuma's family were aristocratic and Conan thought that Kohji was from a nobel family. Given that aristocraty in Japan was ambolished in WWII, perhaps Conan was thinking nobel as in 'used to be aristocratic'. There could be a connection in that. Maybe it had something to do with inheritance or power.

My crush would be Haibara because of her situation. She had a sad and dark background full of pain. Yet, she still had the will to live, to fight on. She is always haunted by her past, yet she has not given up. I think that is what makes her so fearless and heartbreaking. Many times I wish I could step into her world give her a hug.

    > At the end of the case in the manga version, Kogoro Mouri is shown reading a newspaper article about himself because he helped the police solve the murder of the museum's owner. This marks the first claim to fame of Kogoro. In the anime version, this is replaced with a scene of the Detective Boys discussing about the aftermath of the museum, and their plan of investigating a case about a "moving skeleton" at night. Make sure to watch until the end please! ^^

They are all different ways of transliterating the sounds of Japanese names into English. It's hard to say which is more correct than the other as there is more than one system in use. I confess the more I look into it, the less I am sure of how to properly answer your question. It's anecdotal but I have seen many of those spellings as well. The Wikipedia page about Japanese romanization may provide some info on how those spellings happened. The last link under External Links (on the same page) also seems pretty relevant to the question you're asking. A thing I would like to suggest is that "ou" may have been used more when it was more difficult to type and display special characters on the computer. Before cellphones were common it wasn't easy to set up a way to type special characters without a lot of hassle. This was my own experience, however, and may not apply to everyone.

Gotcha. Essentially, I'm captivated by the uncertainty before me, right now. Regardless of what I consider to be the most probable or likely, I could see the Rum arc potentially going in completely separate directions—I'm not absolutely certain of Gosho's true answer. In the end, I'd be down for Muga or the other three turning out to be Rum. At the same time, I'm eager to have an answer—to see where Gosho intends to go with this. I'd say the latter possibility is more likely, but, yes—I now concur that Gosho could have been misleading with the answer to that question, and thus, Muga could still be Rum.

Hey all, my latest theory regarding the whole Rum arc. Is that most likely Hyoue & Rumi are not Rum, I cannot say I have conclusive evidence, however the mere fact that they met during the camping incident, and Rumi's confrontation with the culprit, made me feel uneasy about how Kuroda reacted. If one was Rum, the other knew, if the other person did not know, it is most likely that Rum (or them) was not in the Haneda's scene, because their level of intelligence (that may surpass Conan's) would lead them to figure the identity of Rum at the crime scene. Rumi (If she is Rum), would know Kuroda's purpose is to spy on her, and therefore would take actions to escape any chance that would lead to her identity. Kuroda (if he is Rum) would not confront Rumi, who is related to Haneda's mystery, without jeopradizing her suspisiousness towards him. If Kurodoa is Rum he would rather avoid Rumi, who might deduce who he is. If both did not know the other, I doubt Rumi would show off her skills in front of Kuroda (to her he might be Rum). Kuroda would not confront Rumi (who to him might be Rum), on the ground that he is watching over, and keeping her in a school where young lives at stake. On this basis, Rum is neither for most chances, unless proven otherwise. Kanenori, is a great candidate. But for a second in hand to command a large syndicate as big as BO, and the desire to remain unknown, would suggest he would rather attract less attention to himself, even if he tries to hide in plain sight. And his wholesome intention to become a disciple of a famous detective (Kogoro), would inspire others to look into him, such as Conan, and his quirky look, would raise questions, specially if Rum, who most likely knows about the descriptions people say about him, would mind fitting the image or a characteristic in a way or another in public. Rum would most likely, appear in the three different ways he is described, only inside the BO, while in public he would/should change his appearance to avoid any traces of him. If he have a damaged eye, he'd rather hide it or damage both eyes, if he seems feminine, he'd rather appear ambiguous looking, the same goes for a strong man. Rum, most likely, has not appeared in whole appearance to the people who described him. The BO agents, described his characteristics, based on his approach, which would raise the question of the eye problem. If all agreed, that Rum have an eye that is prosthetic or damaged, it must mean that they saw him. Yet, it might be a way of Rum to throw off descriptions of him by giving different traits, with one similar characteristic, so when he is investigated, it would mislead the investigators in something that did not exist. Again, the descriptions, have transferred to Haibara who relayed them to Conan, (Who btw, didn't even bother telling Conan Anokata's phone number, even though she was not surprised to know he figured it out), in accordance with her intentions to mislead Conan away from the BO so he would not be a matter of concern. Rum's awareness, like Gin about Sherry's escape from the BO, and that she must have had help, before her assumed death, would mean she told someone info on the BO, and Rum's different descriptions would've made their way into a stranger. Iori Muga, to me personally, is most suspicious. Like said above by MeiTanteixX, his concern over time, would relate logicaly to Rum. He has no worries about people finding out his time calculations, and he should not. Since only the people he told that time is precious, should be matter of concern to him, like Amuro, however he considers Amuro a top ranking BO agent. And following the theory of MeiTanteixX, about G & UMA, which I find to be very possible. I would not be surprised if Muga turns out to be Rum,. Another thing to consider, that Kuroda is not Rum, is the fact that he is Rei's superior. While he may still be a suspect, he would know about the agents awaiting at Kudo's residence during the Scarlet Arc. Thus, he would question the whole Akai's conversation with Rei over the phone, and the PSB that chased him, would lead to the BO's figuring out his whole fake death incident, if he is Rum. Kanenori, if Rum, would be a compromise of concealment, to be known to Kogoro, Amuro and others, as a disciple to Kogoro, with the looks he has, and the possible chance some would know of his descriptions following Haibara's escape from BO, even before her assumed death. Rumi, while as mysterious as she is, would not throw her mysterious character to be a matter of study and observation to others, if she is Rum, not to Kuroda who is in police, nor to Conan, whose skills of deduction, she know of. I cannot imagine a scenario where the 2nd in command, would not mind be around someone who can investigate him, unless he wants to. Rum, is in rush. As evident by his message to Amuro "Time is Money", mostly the general concept is that Rum's current objective is to find out any spies within the BO, while staying hidden. He/She, is currently active, while maintaining the order of BO. means he/she must balance between the two. As to why he is in hurry, it may be due to; 1. following a lead to find something out before it becomes apparent or escape. 2. To rush others to fall victims of time and therefore revealing their true allegiance, 3. to actually win something over in the least time possible. Since time is of the essence to Rum, I've been wondering if it has anything to do with Anokata himself. Since Anokata(Karasuma), is related to the whole time concept, raising the dead, over half a century of existence. I wonder if something is up that may actually be the reason why Rum is in a rush. Which would lead back to the Muga's obssession with time and seconds, and his attempt to calculate time to the second for fullest time employment. ..

My Theory : 1. RUM Involved in the death of Amanda Hughes (Main Target) and Haneda Kohji. << RUM Involvement 2. Asaka (The Bodyguard) last seen is holding the Mascara Mirror brand that written "Put On Mascara", Asaka is Woman. << Who is Asaka 3. It seems Asaka or Haneda Kohji or Both of them is the one who left dying message, the evidence say that Haneda Kohji's palm is injured due holding scissors. << Fact of Dying Message 4. RUM Didn't know what's his mistake on that Mission as Black Organization member. So RUM try to upload this case to internet to figure it out too, maybe he got some clue, and it comes to Conan and Akai who got the same case just like 17 years ago. << RUM's secondary mission 5. Dying message is not appoint that Asaka is Rum, but it refer to Carasuma Group. << Yusaku Kudo theory 6. 3 Peoples appear after Kir text, A. Hyoue Kuroda, B. Wakasa Rumi, and the C. Wakita Kanenori. << Timeline Fact 7. Black Organization also have NOC lists that infiltrate security bureau or government. << Based on Movie 13 (Irish's Mission) Possibility Based on Suspicion Link : Hyoue Kuroda 55%, Wakasa Rumi 60%, Wakita Kanenori 45% If next chapter explain relationship clue why Wakasa Rumi regretting Haneda Kohji's death, the suspicion to Wakasa Rumi would be vanish.

You mean I ain't gonna make it to six years, Akazora? I got to say, if this isn't the end, it's definitely at least the dark ages for this community. Our new member retention rate has gone to hell, and only 1 out of 15 of the more notable posters still hang around. I'm not even sure if I count anymore. But I guess everything has to come to an end. I remember when I clocked the Top 20 Posters with 300+ posts per day. Those were insanely fun days. Basically none of it was quality, but that was how it was back in the day. This topic blew up every day, it was like a chat room in here. I remember when I decided to leave to focus on my life. But then I came back, because goddammit, this place is a bit too precious to me. There's a bunch of quirky individuals that I bet I wouldn't have gotten to meet otherwise. I remember when I joined, that I had no idea how to fit in such a bustling community. I found my place and left my mark, I hope. My only regret now is that there might not be someone to follow after me. It's been almost six years for me. The forums are even older than that, but for me, it's been an impressive six years. I can say without a doubt that this place has definitely influenced me, changed me for the better. I'm a better man now. I'll find another place on the interwebs to hang out, but this place will always have a special place in my memories, along with all of you (yes, even those of you that I didn't particularly get along with, all of you). But it's honestly time for me to move on for good, and I hope that at the very least, that anyone I interacted with here will not forget me. Take care and safe travels, fellow DCWites. “Promise me you'll never forget me because if I thought you would, I'd never leave.” - A.A. Milne

Here's a general guide. Movie 12, 13, 14, 15, and 16 all have an "OVA" labeled as "Magic Files" to go before or after each movie. After Magic File 6, Episode 694, 735, and 774 were aired as preludes to the movies that year. They aren't really overly connected, but usually just had a bit of dialogue for the movie at the end of each episode. If the pattern follows, we should see the episode for M20 on April 16th.You could watch almost all the movies regardless of where they "fit in", but if you wanted to watch the movies in relation to their air-dates... You could follow the list below. After Episode 54 - Movie 1 After Episode 97 - Movie 2 After Episode 140 - Movie 3 After Episode 186 - Movie 4 After Episode 231 - Movie 5 After Episode 275 - Movie 6 After Episode 315 - Movie 7 After Episode 356 - Movie 8 After Episode 393 - Movie 9 After Episode 434 - Movie 10 After Episode 470 - Movie 11 After Episode 504 - Movie 12 (Watch Magic File 2 before this movie) After Episode 535 - Movie 13 (Watch Magic File 3 before this movie) After Episode 570 - Movie 14 (Watch Magic File 4 after this movie) After Episode 613 - Movie 15 (Watch Magic File 5 after this movie) After Episode 655 - Movie 16 (Watch Magic File 6 before this movie) After Episode 694 - Movie 17 After Episode 735 - Movie 18 After Episode 774 - Movie 19

Detective Conan is known to have moving moments that can provoke a chilling sensation. These chills can be triggered by moments that are touching, suspenseful, terrifying, action-packed, nostalgic, or just plain good. To name some of the moments that personally gave me chills, here's a list: 1) Episode 34-35 (Mountain villa murder case) - the bandaged man himself actually gave me some chills, and also the way he butchered and cut up the victim O.o 2) Episode 42 (Karaoke box murder case) - when the manager realizes that the victim actually loved her and cries out of despair. The emotion in her cry was very chilling... 3) Episode 288 (New York case) - when Shinichi confronts the silver-haired serial killer about why he saved him, so he says "Is a reason necessary? I don't know why you would kill someone but as for saving someone... a logical mind isn't needed, right?" Great moment ^^ 4) Episode 304 (Trembling Police HQ: 12 million hostages case) - during the elevator scene when Takagi asks Conan "Who are you?" and Conan responds "I'll tell you... in the next world." Talk about cool moments ^^ There's a lot more episodes and moments that I didn't say, but I don't feel like listing them all. So what episodes gave you guys chills?

Actually, I think Ran's character is actually a loveable character. She fits to be a perfect wife in reality. Perhaps we need to rethink about her character from Japanese girl's point of view. Also, we need to understand that that this anime has been a pretty long series. At that particular point of time when her character has been established, her character was actually a portrayal of most normal girls in high school. And at that time, the idea that girls are weaker than guys are still around. Girls like her are more or less thought to be normal. So the idea to make her strong in something like karate was actually to make her a little less normal. However, now, the situation is totally different. People do not think like this anymore. Girls are now a lot stronger than they used to be. Therefore, looking at girls like RAN now makes her a very plain character. Her actions now are deemed irritating and annoying. However I will still support her! Just because this girl still possesses the values which I believe in. To me, a person is smart or cool or beautiful or weak in heart is not as important as what I deem to be a value. So I don't dislike her.
