Occupation:
Police Inspector Inspector in the Arson section of C.I. Division 1
Yuminaga (弓長,Yuminaga?) is a character in the manga and anime franchise Detective Conan.
Background
Yuminaga is an inspector from the Arson Investigation Section 1 of the first Division[1], who therefore deals with arson cases. Kogoro, who was his subordinate at some point, nicknamed him "fiery old fossil". He has an assistant who always accompany him on his cases.
Personality
Like most other inspectors, he trusts and listen to Conan's deductions, even once called him "the boy who has put the police to shame". He has gotten angry at a man that burnt down an apartment because "I thought resetting it would fix it", and angrily mentions that the culprit, in one day, destroyed a lifetime of memories of a family.[2] Similar to most other police officers, he shows professionalism and dedication in his job. He is also quite calm and collected during cases.
He investigates a string of arsons committed by a culprit who leaves red horse dolls at the crime scene. After Heiji's client dies in the fourth fire, he meets the group, including Kogoro, whom he had worked with back when they were officers. Throughout the case, he vehemently believes the prime suspect, Takanori Genda, is innocent as he witnessed first-hand the man's obsessiveness in preventing possible fires. As a relatively competent inspector, he often listened to Heiji and Conan's observations and plans, and even took part in the final deduction. In the end, he cited the two boys as the true heroes of the case.
