| Just as Kogoro's luck seems to be running out after a bad day at the horse races with a revenge fueled escaped con bearing down on him, a beautiful woman practically falls into his arms. The only problem is, she can't remember a thing about herself, except her name. Can Richard help this woman regain her memory and, if so, will it only get him into more trouble than he's already in?

The "Bearded guy with sunglasses" was Hitoshi Yuda in a disguise, and Maya Tachibana was a hitwoman that he hired to kill Kogoro for "revealing" him as the killer of his wife. She lost her memories when she got involved in a traffic accident and hit her head; midway through the episode she recovered it, specially after Yuda kept trying to kill Kogoro himself; Maya then decided to pretend she was still amnesiac, both to set the deal with Yuda and then finish her mission of killing Kogoro.
Maya's weapon was a strong floss, which she used to strangle her victims; she managed to trap Kogoro and use the floss to hang him in a makeshift gallow.

By then, Conan had already notified the police and then used his super sneakers to kick a tennis ball towards Maya, forcing her to release Kogoro.
