My reading is very bad ...
Writing is pretty good .
Saying is good.
Pinying is so-so ...

This is advanced class I naturally have high expectations for fluent chinese speakers to start off with simple words. This lesson is for advanced or secondary level and 2nd lesson isn't difficult as I recap words they've learn in school in past.

That's not the right han yun pinyin.
The correct way is ' ni hao'.
To type it out, change the keyboard settings. Change the language of the computer and you can type Chinese!
Ni hao is typed like this:
